Darvin Ham said "no, not really" when asked if he considered calling a timeout on the final play, saying he liked Russ vs. Embiid 1-on-1.

"I'll take that scenario every day of the week and twice on Sunday."

Ham said Westbrook just needed to finish the play.

Darvin Ham reiterated that he has full confidence in Russell Westbrook with the ball in his hands and the game on the line

Can Ham and Westbrick be traded together? Seems like Ham trusts him more than Bron.

This really would be a best case scenario.

Honestly, I'd expect any coach to say what Ham said. It's a pretty perfunctory defense of his player. Anything else would be pretty shocking.

And Darvin was probably right because Russ was clearly fouled so Russ did the job but the refs failed at their job.

Yeah this Loss was on Ham. First he should have called a T.O. Next he should have adjusted his line up. Russ got by Embide only to run into another tower.

What the F are you calling out of timeouts? I understand some of your players are morons, but come on. And 4 times your guys take 3s as the shot clock runs out. You would think you would tell your guys to get a shot up quicker.

Another L on Ham. Moron has Bev and Russ on the floor when needing some shooters on the floor. Doesn’t call TO when he has 2. Doesn’t want to draw up a play bc he doesn’t have any to draw up.

Got out coached and outclassed by Mike Brown lmao

How do your guys not foul immediately? It's like Jr. High coaching here. Losing winnable games. Pathetic.

“When you add that to Darvin’s sophisticated grasp of in-game strategy and deep knowledge of the game of basketball, we have the ideal coach for this next chapter in Lakers history. We could not be more honored and proud to name Darvin Ham as our new head coach.”

This Pelinka quote is worse than the Jesus/Moses quote about KCP now

So, at what point does Ham get sick of Bev and WB screwing us over down the stretch of games and actually bench them? Jesus.

It was manna.
Anyway, KCP turned out good for us, so hopefully Ham does too.
But at this moment, he's been crap.

Bro, image if Russ was starting. We'd be more pissed.

I got nothing against DHam. but have been saying all season, we did not upgrade coaching, if anything we downgraded, because at least we had an elite defensive strategist and now we have neither.

His main strength is that he has gotten Russ to buy in. Aside from that, there's not a whole lot you can talk about this year so far.

But to be fair, this like last year, is a flawed roster. Also to be fair, DHam did have a choice of his staff, and had a choice of what type of vet min/MMLE FAs to pursue. We went for some more athletic younger players. However we didn't go for much wing size or shooting. We also play small, even with AD. This is all stuff I think DHam wants, otherwise we'd playing Bryant with AD the moment Bryant was available. Instead of starting more typical sized lineups, he continues to go with the Bev/Dennis backcourt. He even plays small at the 3. often. I don't get this. The Pelinka/Ham alliance, you would think they would go back and study how a title was won around AD/Bron.

In the end this is just a time in the Laker era you have to chill and live with mediocrity. Enjoy Bron while he's still playing the game. He's an all time talent still playing at a high level. By 2024 onward, things will be a lot brighter for us, have to just sit back and be patient now until then.

Only reason why Russ isn’t starting now is cause the FO gave Ham the power to.

Vogel didn’t get that until it was too late last year. Damage was already done.

Lying ass.

^And setting up for the inevitable LBJ injury/rest period post scoring title and post ASB. Barring a meaningful trade, it is possible that the wheels fall off by March…. AD getting healthy soon enough then beasting is the only other hope of a playoff run this year because this roster is thin AF thanks to 47m tied up in WB and poor asset management.

Lebron/JTA/Christie/PatBev/Russ was our closing line-up tonight...

Yea I get his a rookie, but this guy just seem to just toss things out there hoping that Lebron will make it work.

Bryant has been shelf late in the game. Could have helped tonight with the Kings smaller bigs.

TB was pretty garbage on defense tonight.

I agree though..our lineups are bad.

Ham also doesn’t understand the concept of offense/defense subs late in games
