They probably wanted him more than Reaves due to 2-way potential if you ask me. I would have been more than ok with Reaves instead being in the trade (although Reaves is vastly more liked and popular).
Good luck Max. |
Not sure about Reaves but I'd have been happier about, say, Vincent/Knecht/'31 in the trade. The odds are slim '31 is as good as Christie will be.
Maybe in '27 we'll be able to sign him for the MLE |

Def watching the Mavs for AD and Christie. Rooting for them. |

I'm bummed to lose Max.
I think he's worth more than a first rounder all on his own. Probably not a top 10, but anything below that.
A real 3&D who is only getting better and better, 22 years old on a super-cheap deal.
That's huge. |

Hurts to lose him. Tons of upside. Seems a good character guy. Is just going to get better. Pelinka has signed back players that he's traded away. I truly hope we can somehow get Christie back, at some point. |

Hopefully Max remembers our FO liked him so much that one of the reasons they fired Ham was for how he treated Christie. Return to your home in two years, young fella |

Let’s keep the home warm for him. He’ll see the fire in the cold of the night |

Trying to find that locker room interview of Max after the Knicks game. He looked teary eyed in the beginning and then you see some guy yank his locker name plate off. I wonder if he just found out that moment. |

Yeah, can't be upset with how the Lakers treated him (vs., say, Zubac). I'm really hoping he is our 2027 MLE target (he has a player option). Or, frankly, the Mavs decide to blow it up next year and trade him back for Gabe (expiring) + '31, as I think he's worth the FRP. I've been scouring the NBA for people who can replace what Max provides, and it's such slim pickings. Lonzo (injury prone) and LeVert (injury prone, wrong side of 3) are just about the only two 3&D+ guards who might be available |

It's been fun to watch Max improve by leaps and bounds this season. I really hope the Lakers can get him back at some point. |

Really wish we could have kept Max. He’s been awesome since he got back into the starting lineup. But no doubt that’s why the Mavs demanded he be in the trade. Rooting for you and AD Max! |

He won’t even be starting in Dallas. Taking max seems more like an F U than anything else. They don’t need him and we do lol 😂
I’ll miss max. So far he’s the best young player we drafted in a very long time. _________________ “Cuban would never”

Rob shoulda never included him in this trade, just installed to lineup & changed athleticism, defense & 3 pt shooting.
All this talk about getting a center what 6’9” 220 or 7’0” slow & none can shoot 3 ball. Now we need another guard too! 🤯😡 _________________ My Laker squad.

I was wrong about him. After DLo was traded, he really stepped up and proved why the Lakers gave him that contract.
I hope this trade doesn't derail his career trajectory. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

he'll be a good pro for the next 15 years...

Max 4 for 4 from 3 with 15 pts and 9 rebounds in his first game as a Mav. Look, I would make this trade any day of the week if I’m the Lakers but this trade is not as lopsided as everyone thinks. The Mavs got a good one in Max Christie. He’s still 21 and figures to get much better. He’s gonna be an elite 3 and D specialist. |

Very happy with the trade and you gotta give to get, but losing Max stings a bit. He was/is the perfect fit for any squad especially with Luka. Personally, I choose Max over Rui or even throw in a protected 1st to keep him out but again... we got LUKAAA. Go Max |

He could end up being more than that.
I remember how well M Gasol turned out on a lopsided trade. |
