I hope Flagg falls to an eastern conference team because I'd hate to have to go thru Jokic, Wemby and Flagg every year just to get to the finals. Not that it would affect our chances of winning a championship much but every bit helps.

The NCAA tape I've seen from Flagg doesn't look impressive.
I'm not worried about playing him in the future.

We will be a lottery team for a long time after LeBron retires. It really doesn’t matter who’s in the west during the next decade. 😂🤣.

Our time is now!

I hate to be a Debby downer but most draft picks don’t turn out to be Kobe or LeBron. Chances are these draft picks are the most valuable they will ever be to this franchise today. Right now. We have LeBron, AD, and a roster that is nearly healthy and possibly 1-2 pieces away from contending. Those draft picks need to go!

We don’t need a star we need the right pieces. I think Keller could potentially be one. Use the MLE this summer on another one. Give LeBron a chance at a title next season!

I still think he can go down as a Laker legend and be loved forever in LA if he beats Boston in the finals. We know they will probably be there in the end…the question is can we?

Bruce Brown had a good game earlier, 14 pts with 2/2 from 3. Is Lakers really serious on getting him than a big?

Phoenix has removed Nurkic from the rotation as they seek a trade.

Charlotte would send another player alongside Richards in the deal.

If that's all it's going to take, please swoop in like we did for DFS and get him. We need rebounding ASAP.

Deal would probably include either Grant Williams or Josh Green from Charlotte to make the salaries match..

Lakers could swoop in and give a better offer.. Nurkic has another year left on his contract at 18mil.. Gabe/JHS/Wood + 2nd would work and only 11mil with Gabe's contract..

People who have actually watched him play say Richard’s is god awful. I haven’t watched him, so I can’t say for sure, but that isn’t a good sign.

Maybe Rob will trade for Nurkic since he's a Klutch client.

Jimmy Bucket to Denver
MPJ to Lakers
Rui to Miami

How would the rest of the salaries and picks look?

Richards/Nurkic produce about the same except Richards blocks shots, Nurkic doesn’t; and Nurkic shoots the 3pt and Richards doesn’t. It depends on what is valued most in terms of preference. I’d prefer the younger age (27yrs vs 30yrs) and defense of Richards and much cheaper cost ($5m vs $18m).

A big body back up C is priority imo but the Lakers also need help in the back court as well (ball handling and defense without sacrificing offense). Richards may allow resources to be left over after his acquisition to fill the other hole where as Nurkic cost too much and doesn’t provide enough. I’d go for Vucevic before Nurkic if stuck going after a $18m-$20m big body C. At least Vue scores 20ppg and shoots >40% 3pt. I gotta pass on…no go…Nurkic for $18m.

I feel like Rui is the worst player in this trade by far, so the Lakers have to attach a first round to Miami, maybe a few seconds to Denver to sweeten it for them. With that said, I'd do it. He's a championship caliber role player.

It looks like an upgrade but this is the kind of distraction…going after DeRozan/Klay…that caused the team to miss out on an almost free Valenciunas. Any good player would help at any position but going after what is missing improves a team to a more competitive level. As an example, adding a 22/8/8 Westbrook actually made the Lakers worst whereas much lower contributors Dlo/Rui significantly improved the team.

The Lakers need a big body back up C and help at PG. Forcing a fit at some other position could work but it’s more likely to result in a positive outcome if the roster is constructed cohesively to cover deficiencies. ATM the two biggest problems are rebounding and non-AD minutes.

MPJ is another non-star level scorer who can't play defense.

Tired of that kind of player, TBH. He's better than AR, DLo, Rui, but not so much that he's worth $36, 38, and 41 million over the next 3 years respectively.

If the Lakers are getting another offense-centric player making a lot of money, they need a "go-to" guy who can be the focal point of the offense. They need a guy who's going to get his own offense, dominate to the point of drawing double teams, and can make plays based on that defensive gravity.

Sure that player is Jimmy Butler. You cant find any player who fits that description better than Butler.....and oh yea the dude lives for the playoffs and single-handedly makes the Celtics piss their shorts. Also, dude is still a plus defender since you keep harping on defense.

But the SOB is tall, can shoot, has playoff experience, can rebound, and score in bunches. He’s better and bigger than Rui. He’s not playoff Jimmy, but I’ll take him in season over Rui and Jimmy. That boy absolutely manhandled Rui, Austin, and Dlo in switches last year lol in the first round and knocked them around for rebounds and loose balls and that was with the shift the media kept asking him about his family.

People just gonna ignore that Nurkic is a Klutch client and he has history of giving Jokic some trouble, he’s a Improvement over Hayes and Kokolo and he’s been playing lackluster cause he wants to get out of PHX. get it done Pelinka, we need a big C

Not ignoring it, just acknowledging that back up C isn’t the only problem and spending $18m on Nurkic may prevent the Lakers from upgrading the other deficiency, which is starting PG. As long as both areas are addressed I wouldn’t mind having Nurkic, I just think the price tag is too high based on his production and it would limit the ability to address the other Lakers’ needs.

This is when Pelinka has to be creative in finding a way to execute trades to bring us the help we need, a lot of people keep bringing up Richards/Vucevic/ and others but the 1 guy who has shown he can somewhat stick with Jokic is Nurkic especially he always wants to show up against him cause Nurkic got traded from Denver to make room for Jokic

If Rob pulls off any combination before this year’s deadline…could include Nurkic…of a big body, defensive, rebounding, back up C; with a dynamic scoring, defending, facilitating, PG; I’d take back all the insults he’s earned in the past lol!

MPJ is extremely talented and handled himself well even in his first playoff run when he embarrassed the likes of Kuzma. And you are correct that all else being equal, I too would take MPJ as his fit with the Lakers would be much smoother than Butler. But a couple things. #1. He disappeared the very next round vs Minnesota and was a key reason Denver lost to an inferior team. #2 He is enough of a space cadet where his floor is also low. He isnt truly a championship intangibles player but I wont discredit him by saying he isnt made of the right stuff either. He is sort of a mixed bag where the good definitely outweighs the bad. Butler on the other hand, is made of only the right stuff even if the age could be concerning.

My concern with Jimmy isn’t playoff Jimmy.

It’s regular season Jimmy. People get on AD when he doesn’t score 20 and ignore if he grabs 16 boards, blocks 4 shots, gets assists, advance the ball up the court, gets steals, alters shots, gets deflections, and traps guy while being readily available much more than stars. Jimmy misses games, doesn’t average 20, will have 9 point nights and do little things, will speak out in the press to tell people stfu, and not even be all star or all nab level because he only cares about the playoffs where he’s easily a superstar. His pendulum is not an all star in the season to a playoff superstar that can take you to the finals, like a sf version of Jason Kidd lol.

I feel like MPJ will be a better regular season player. And he’s a whole different dynamic to the team, the dynamic people were getting hard over Dalton being before a scouting report hit him. He’s tall, long, and shoot and score in bunches. Even small ball with him is bigger than small ball with Rui. I agree he isn’t playoff Jimmy but to get to the playoffs he would be much more crucial day to day. It’s a really weird thing. AD and Bron give you a lot in season and more in the playoffs. Reaves gives you the same in the playoffs and season. I would alright this team has gown saying back to last year that more in the season from Randle and Dlo made them damn hard to beat, but those two both have you nothing in the playoffs. So you might need one guy who can push it up in the playoffs (Jimmy) or you might need 2 who can at least do what Reaves does and give you the same in regular and post season (Vucevic, MPJ, and others fill that list) … but they can’t have two guys do what Rui and Dlo did the past two postseasons and not be consistent

How's Nurkic's defense these days? If he's taking up an 18mil salary spot he'd need to at least be a good rim protector

I assume he'd at least be okay as a backup to AD, but paying 18mil for a backup big would really suck

Not a rim protector. Neither is Val, but he is a hell of a rebounder, and can pass very well. I still say though that you are going to pay the price of Nurkic just add the pick and get Vucevic. You get all the rebounds, 18–20 points if called on, 4 threes a night, passing, health, and someone both AD and Bron can play with one sits as AD would have his size and spacing and help on the glass as he contests. Whole Vucevic fits the mold of Z, Bosh, and Love where he spades the floor and can clean the glass allowing Bron to go downhill. Bron can’t go downhill at backup 5 with this group because no one can rebound unless if he does the dirty work
