The guy is a lottery level talent in the second round? Now we will start him against Jokic? Gotta be the offseason. But if he signs at least Klutch will be paid, that’s all that matters.

Jokic was 41st pick.

I’m so confused how Jokic went 41st. How many seven footers can handle and pass like him? How many seven footers are even in the draft?

Jokic wasn’t cut by the team that drafted him. If you want to compare them go for it but no one will agree.

We could always hope that year 25 is the breakout year. It's usually when players show their potential.

The FO has said that they want to develop players, likely because they know they aren’t a championship contender.

The FO will absolutely say we are contenders, but it's just the Bron

Don’t waste your time with VLF. he likes posting anti takes on the Lakers .. it’s his pleasure throwing dirt so he can start baiting with Laker fans, he gets banned every time because of it but comes back and does the same thing, The Lakers have always tried mixing young talent with veteran talent, that in no way does it mean we aren’t a contender

Las Vegas has us as the 15-16th team, which I could agree with given there are a bunch of teams that can will probably beat us.

We’ll see soon enough who is hot in the second half of the season.

Refuting your point of saying lottery talent isn't possible from a second rounder. If everyone could see the Jokic in Koloko, then it wouldn't have been possible for us to get him as a two-way player.

Draymond was a second rounder as well I believe. Zubac? Lakers got lucky with Zubac so I don't see why they couldn't get lucky again.

Hayes DFG% within 6ft of the rim is 65.7%. That's bottom 10 amongst all centers and about 10 points higher than AD last season. McGee was at 53% in the championship year which was top 20. Kind of an insult to compare the two players. McGee averaged 1.4 blocks which was top 20 again and better than Jarret Allen that season. Hayes averaged 0.8 blocks which is 73rd out of 99 centers and most of the guys lower than him didn't play real minutes. He can't protect the rim at all. I think he's better off as a PF.

Lol, you assumed a lot from my broad observation that Hayes was a "decent" fill in for the 2020 McGee role. Ultimately, I believe I am far more dismissive of what the McGee role was than you to begin with. Yes, he was "useful" as I put it, but only as regular season filler (which I also expressed).

The playoffs are where things matter most, and the McGee role in 2020 was a non-factor then, so I have no expectations from Hayes or anyone else in 2024 of doing much more. I thought Hayes showed improvement towards the end of last season, but have no problems with him being a lob threat and paint filler like McGee was even if not as well.

My main front court focus for literally years since 2020 is the Dwight Howard role. I only brought up McGee in the post to say if we don't have someone much better than Hayes to be the McGee for this squad, I have no major complaints since it is not a vital role to begin with.

We need the D12 role filled, and Koloko on paper is not it. As I mentioned in the full post of mine you snipped, he is closer to McGee in body type than Dwight, so I guess if he outshines Hayes in that role, fine. Move Hayes out and stick with Koloko. Either way, we still need a strong backup defensive center of legit size to plug in against specific matchups on our team.

Yep this kid is another Hayes type guy. We'll still be missing the tall big body
C JJ had mentioned and we had in D12 one upon a time.

I don't want to dismiss Koloko, he blocks shots, gets rebounds and injuries do happen, there's that.

Having two big guys who can play center to take some of the load off of Davis is a good idea.

I think the concern was athletically, he woudln't be able to keep up in the NBA. He wasn't in good shape. And much like with Giannis, the lack of scouting and not knowing how his play would translate to the NBA made teams reluctant to take him. And while his indifference to his legacy is amusing now, that kind of personality might have seemed like a red flag in interviews. He was also drafted in the era of "maybe big men aren't as important as we think" and it seemed more important to have a 5 that could shot block and switch. Nobody envisioned a center being the hub of an offense again.

I guess. he's our best center and we need 38m a game at that position. I wouldn't be surprised if we lost every minute he sits.

Because the Raptors likely knew he had blood clot issues, the Raptors would have bought him back if not for him stepping away from the NBA due to blood clots

Because of his blood clot….

One time I give VCF the benefit of the doubt, and he chooses to be obtuse when faced with facts. Of course.

I still remember being confused as to why we were willingly trading LO coming off a 6th man of the year award. Although obviously worth it for cp3. Seeing how his career and life went downhill after this almost trade made me realize why. LO had so many demons and the Lakers knew it. As good as he’d been he was always a ticking time bomb. I think he’s doing better now. Pau was also going to be shipped IIRC? Was it for Scola? Or am I making this up?
