No. January 15th was the last day to apply this season. And even if the Lakers had a DPE they are hardcaped below the 2nd apron after the Luka trade. So it would be irrelevant. |
Thank you |
Why are we hardcapped below the 2nd apron? I thought we were good after the DFS trade.
What can't we do if we are hardcapped below the 2nd apron? |
Nothing much changes. The Lakers were always unlikely to go over the 2nd apron because they weren't allowed to take on salary in a trade anyways. They are still currently under the 2nd apron enough to waive and sign 1 player.
They are hardcapped because they aggregate player salaries in the Luka trade. 2nd apron teams aren't allowed to aggregate salaries so the Lakers are no longer allowed to go into the 2nd apron. |

John Gambadoro is dialed in when it comes to Arizona sports. For him to say this lets me know that the KD-out-of-Phoenix stuff is very real.
"The KD to Golden State has taken on a life of its own in the last 24 hours. Look I do not know for sure so not reporting. I did talk to several teams today that heard the same thing. One told me "He will most likely end up in Golden State with Butler to Phoenix" Will keep digging" |

PHX better be getting both Draymond/Butler if they end up trading KD to GS, with Wiggins and fillers to Miami. |

GSW has all their picks to trade. My guess is Phoenix is stuck and thinks by replacing KD with Butler it doesn’t make them that much worse and replenishes their pick inventory. It’s not that crazy an idea. I don’t know what Golden State feels they’re accomplishing though. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

We aren't going to do this. Hayes is honestly a better fit for the way that Luka plays, and J-Val isn't even an expiring. Just doesn't make sense to do, especially since Kleber would actually have some value this summer because you can aggregate him as part of a larger trade, potentially. I'm not opposed to trading Kleber and the SRP for something more useful, but J-Val is a slow, lumbering center and I don't think that's the type of center we're looking for now. When we had AD, we needed a sturdy guy like that. Now, I don't think we do. |
You can aggregate Jonas just the same. The 3rd year is non guaranteed so it'll essentially be an expiring this summer. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

I would do that for Chris Boucher instead. Also, we only have one 2nd Round pick to offer, just fyi, our own 2025 2nd this year. |
Seriously IG how have you hung out here as much as you do and not know this? _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |

With the switch heavy style we're playing, Jonas is kinda useless. |

Yeah I think that a slower type of center wouldn't be in the cards unless it's a guy so skilled and good that it doesn't matter. Like, obviously, we'd gladly take Jokic lol. But J-Val is a move on the margins and just wouldn't seem to be a good fit. Is Vuc a good enough player to justify it? I'm guessing no. |

Maxi/2nd for Jonas get it done Lakers. Will revisit this offseason. It would also get us about 1.1m under the 2nd apron no?
Maxi 11m
Jonas 9.9m |

So yeah, one game, but I keep thinking that we can contend THIS year. At least give the roster a chance is all I ask...need Rob to dip into his bag again and find something without breaking the bank for summer moves |

Idk what’s out there but who’s this mythical answer in the summer? Get Claxton and let’s roll. |

More flexibility with contracts to trade. Not sure who's out there, either, but there's some logic in seeing how we do for 30 games + playoffs then using the assets to fill in the blanks rather than going all in now blind. |

Hell no. We have one second round pick. Why waste it on JV? |

Claxton would be much easier to get in the summer since we could actually aggregate guys like Kleber and DFS if. We really wanted him. |

The way Rui and Gabe are playing just stand pat. Dump Koloko and Jamison sign Bamba and wait for Wood. Hayes, Bamba and Wood are your bigs. And rotate Vando, DFS, Bron and Rui. This is a very versatile team. The only trade that makes sense is Kessler cuz you don't mess with the core except Knecht and a FRP. Otherwise stand pat. |

Please don’t trade AR/rui/gabe/vando/DFS
DK only if Kessler is available
I’d take my chances with small ball and buyout/hayes/wood |
