Pat Beverley shot over 38% from three six years in a row before last year.

He will play like a madman against the Clippers.

This is going to help.

Too much to give up for an aging Beverly imo.

I think this isn't so much about the talent we get back for THT and Johnson. It's more about creating cap space for next season. We lose Pat Bev's $13mm salary after this year. THT still has this season and the following one left on his contract. If we hold onto Russ we lose that contract as an expiring after this season as well. The fact that we didn't give up any picks still gives us options in the trade market for Hield and/or Turner and the 2 for 1 deal opens up another roster spot. If you look at the talent exchange we may have lost, but if you look at the roster flexibility, keeping our picks for future deals, and the opening up of additional cap space for Kyrie next year it looks like the groundwork for future deals. I'm ok with it because I think there's more coming, whether it's later on this summer or next year. THT is a young talent but lets face it, he wasn't going to blossom here next to LeBron.

I think Beverly is a great addition. We need a guy that is an irritant and a pest on defense specially against smaller guards and adds an energy we really missed. He's also accepts his role player and he's a career 37% 3pt shooter. He may be better playing with LBJ.

A lineup of
AD
Beverly
LBJ
Reeves
Bryant

is not horrible although I believe there will be a trade for Westbrook.

Just looking at it last year. Lakers were horrible defensively after they lost KCP/Caruso. THT had a real bad year.

So yea for next season this should help.

The sad thing is that we are now trying to replace Caruso by trading THT. The same Caruso we let go for nothing while re-signing THT to a larger deal. The same Caruso that said he would have re-signed with the Lakers for a deal cheaper than the one he signed.

Now we are trying to replace him with a smaller 34 year old.

Yeah but any team that has AD as the big and Beverly as the on the ball point, will have defensive tenacity and ability to close.

On paper the defensive side of the ball we really improved with this move if Beverly is still the player he has been the last few years.

I still think this does wonders to our team balance, we had major Forward and Guard congestion.

Bryant/Jones (this seems decent)
AD/Gabriel (need a better backup than gabriel, but he's not bad)
LBJ/JTA/Brown (this seems solid)
Reaves/Walker/Christie (this seems OK too)
Bev/Nunn (a million times better than Russ/THT, A MILLION)

Unless there's another move about to happen soon I don't like this trade at all personally.. I can pretty much guarantee THT will now look solid and be yet another young player people will talk about looking much better once he left the Lakers. I take THT and Stanley over Beverly quite easily but it seems like me and the Lakers FO are def. not seeing eye to eye the last few years to say the least. Beverly is buyout fodder at this stage of his career at best imo.

Has there ever been a more unlikeable PG rotation then Russ and Beverly?

Sucks losing THT I’ve been one of his biggest supporters here.

However, Pat bev helps us now.

THT now gets a chance to ball out in Utah. Who knows he’s a free agent next year…

Yup!! If THT plays well this season, he could opt out after 2023 and we can still sign him as a free agent.

Don’t love the deal. Would have rather just kept Caruso on the value contract he got. And while THT is currently overpaid, he is super young.

At least we didn’t give up picks but THT was one of the movable salaries we did have. And every time we do something good in the draft, we just trade the players anyways.

This doesn’t really move the needle all that much TBH, Rob better have something better or this is a tread water move.

Underrated great move. Shot near 40% from three for past 6 seasons before last. Was the heart of that Minnesota team that got to playoffs. Hate him and he’s dirty. But love him now that he’s on the right team

If there's no Stanley Johnson then how can anyone complain about the trade?

As others have said... if THT starts finally showing his potential then you can sign him later.

Meanwhile, Beverley fills a need to compete right now.

I will not miss THT’s low bball IQ. The kid was out of control with the basketball in his hands.

Pat Bev will bring us a much needed defensive identity. It was painful watching our defence last year.
