Please forgive me if I am not seeing this already posted.

Quote:
In a career that spanned five decades, Walters won 12 Emmy awards, 11 of those while at ABC News.

She made her final appearance as a co-host of "The View" in 2014, but remained an executive producer of the show and continued to do some interviews and specials for ABC News.

"I do not want to appear on another program or climb another mountain," she said at the time. "I want instead to sit on a sunny field and admire the very gifted women -- and OK, some men too -- who will be taking my place."

RIP. Few people stayed at the top of a competitive field like hers as long as she did.

And started at a time when that field was pretty much strictly male.

Death of a Legend. Her on 20/20 was a constant backdrop to my childhood.

My enduring memory of her will include her charm and wit and charismatic ease as an interviewer, but mostly it will be the interview where Robin Williams destroyed every ounce of her skill and left her a delighted co-conspirator who couldn’t stop laughing, and loving every minute of it. Two gems that will be missed.
