The Lakers have three draft picks in the 2023 Draft:
1. The lesser of their own or New Orleans 1st
2. The 2nd round pick of the Chicago Bulls
3. Their own 2nd round pick
1st Round
As of today (1/22/23), they would convey the 8th spot in the lottery to New Orleans, while receiving the 22nd pick from New Orleans via their swap rights.
The standings are crazy compact, with New Orleans within 2 games of being tied for the 17th pick, and the Lakers within 2 games of being tied for the 16th pick. So the second half of the season is going to be really important to where the Lakers end up picking in the first round.
2nd Round
The Lakers own 2nd as of today would be #38, and the Bulls 2nd would be #39.
Lakers - In Portland
New Orleans - Lost to Miami (nice!)
Chicago - not playing tonight. _________________ Member: Austin “Manu” Reaves fan club.

Honestly, it's not looking that bad for the Lakers, even with BI back. I'm not quite sold on BI's durability (yet), and Zion's injury history isn't too promising either. Both of them are plagued with deep rooted injury concerns, and the Pels medical staff is kinda all over the place. Somewhat similar to the situation with AD. You just never know when they will pop again. _________________ "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." — Gandhi
If NO does well this season our picks gets worst right?
If so, what a season they picked to be good
We fed them frp so they could be better making this year's pick swap even better for them. Next year, it looks like they might get another high pick from us. Imagine if they got Wemba and then another top prospect next year, they might just have to trade BI. _________________ LeGoat!
Tankathon has us drafting a player like this late blooming lefty.
Hmm, 4 year dude. Shoots 72% from the line, and 32% from deep. Also his release is very…weird. Almost like he’s shooting the ball one handed. It’s also a slow looking shot.

I like the idea physically since he’s a 6’8 wing talent. But looking at the numbers and his shooting form, I’m like….ehhhh…what’s his defense like?
There's a lot of lengthy talent at 20... I'm just hoping we use our drafting skills to identify someone who can shore up that need without trading our two first rounders.
He's actually shooting 38% from three this season... but I'm hoping we can find the best one.
Kris Murray is Keegan Murray's twin brother. He's a good one & he'll probably be gone before #20. That said; I hope the Lakers also give these Potential Prospects a look in the '23 draft.
1st round:
* Leonard Miller (G League Ignite, SF, 2003)
* Noah Clowney (6-10, 210 PF, Alabama, Frosh)
* Jarace Walker (6-8, 235 SF/PF, Houston, Frosh)
* Sidy Cissoko (6-8, 200 SG, G-League International)
* Baba Miller
2nd Round:
*Tristan Vukcevic (6-11, 205 PF/C, Serbia International)
* Marcus Sasser (6-2, 195 PG/SG, Houston Senior)

Standings are incredibly bunched around the Pelicans. The Knicks, Clippers, Mavs, Suns amongst others are right there with them. Clippers are relatively healthy now and Kawhi is back in rhythm, Suns are getting guys back, Wood is potentially coming back this week, so I expect those teams to rise. With Zion out a minimum of 2 more weeks, they could conceivably drop 3-4 more spots in the standings.
If we are three games away from the four seed, and we didn't have AD, Reaves, Walker... then I think we can easily get into the playoffs.
I get those who want that one last trade to push us into title contention but I'd rather see us just draft someone good then tie up all our money with Turner's salary.
They can't punt the 'swap' right, gotta swap or no swap at all?
This year is a swap unless we pass them in which case we just keep our own picks but they can punt the 2024 to 2025.
I don't wanna jinx it, but the damage is looking pretty minimal right now for this season.
If we pass them, I wonder if they just take this year's pick anyway.
If the Lakers play well down the stretch, they might be better next year. _________________ 💜💛 🏆 👀 🍖
