I feel Ham is doing the same with Rui.

Inexcusable that two wings are skewering your defense and you don't play Rui at all. Inexcusable.

Max has been developing in the G League, that is what it’s for.

That's where the kid belongs right now.

i can only guess. but it seems Ham has the understandable pet peeve of dudes just "disappearing" while in the game. we've seen that from Rui... like floats around DOING NOTHING!

like play D, set pics. be valuable.

Apparently the mid-range game, and occasional three is not appetizing to the coach, which is foolish to me. The guy has one of the best mid-range jumpers in the game but is not suited to this offense. An offense that is very unimaginative I might add.

Besides the lack of desire for his skillset, there's also the problem of a low motor.

As far Max is concerned, there's been a singular focus on winning to catch up from the time we started 2-10. It just hasn't been an idea time/season to develop rookies, especially if you're a rookie coach trying to prove they made the right choice.

Rui needs to play D, he's a nice player but yeah he disappears out there. Maybe the coaching staff are trying to get his attention.

We'll see.

Watch him pick up another DNP tonight and the team goes on another scoring drought because all they want to do is chuck threes.

Thought he got some quality minutes out there. His performance made you wonder why he didn't play the game before. His ability to get points when our offense breaks down helps a lot. His size for rebounding and challenging shots is also useful.

I love his demeanor there. He is a cool customer.

He plays some minutes at the 4 and is able to spread the floor which is good. Him and Wenyen are an interesting combo off the bench

I think he should be playing more minutes. I know he's not a great 3 point shooter but he's a big body and a stabilizer offensively, obviously adept at the midrange but his quick duck-ins in the paint on smaller players is an easy way to get points.

I guess between Lebron, AD, DLO, Reaves, and Dennis there's just too many cooks in the kitchen for Rui to shine.

He should be playing more. Agree he fits well and his size and athleticism makes a big difference.

I think Rui is another guy who will benefit more playing with a couple starters or ball handlers out there.

I like Schro, but it really is a battle with him running point for the 2nd unit. He's not that good at setting up plays and finding guys. Yesterday was big evidence of that.

This guy is so versatile man... Ham need to find a way to give this kid a consistent 20-25 mpg.

Love that his intensity on D has improved even if his shot isn't falling.

That is based on Rui's effort. When his motor is on, he gets minutes.

LOVED seeing Ham giving Rui an uptick in minutes. Great versatility on D he was showing out there and his athleticism and size makes a WORLD of difference.

This guy will be super valuable in the playoffs.

Rui played a hell of a basketball game today. Love seeing him out there. His demeanor reminds me of Derek Fisher. Never getting too up or down at all. Playing tough basketball out there against a really tough basketball team in a hostile environment and playing with a cool head.

My favorite Rui game. Heyyyyy Ham realized he could play Rui with Lebron and AD or Gabriel and Vando!

Playing 3 of our biggest players at a time was what helped us compete with the massiveness of the wolves.

This guy could be a bit of a difference maker. His strength makes him a plus defender on bigger wings/forwards.

If I said there was a 26 year old, 6’8” forward on the Lakers, who can defend KAT like a brick wall, rebound, score well at all 3 levels, make nice passes, and has the entire country of Japan behind them, you’d want that guy on your team moving forward to absorb all the minutes Lebron won’t be playing in his finals years… correct?
