Playoffs are a chess match. He had a hard time in the Warriors series going through screens but this is def more in his wheelhouse. So happy we have his skill set for this series.

Rui's playoff performance has just been superb. Period.

He's a "core four" guy with Reaves, AD & LeBron.

I don't know what the team looks like after the trade deadline next year, but I'd be surprised if those four weren't still there.

You only trade Reaves if he's a critical part of a deal for a true superstar.. and I don't see that happening. I'm talking something ridiculous like Shai becoming available.. which will never happen.

Everyone else is a role player and possible salary ballast in a trade.

Guys like Rui and AR that step up their game in the post season are keepers, perhaps even LW4.

I want to bring back Schro and Mo as well as keep Vandi, even Gabe/TBjr for vet mins…but Rui…that’s different. Rui is a must keep type of player.

love how the narrative for Rui changed here! Just hoping people dont turn on him if he doesnt have a good game. He's going to be a crucial piece of our core going forward. Excited to see him develop in the p&g

I honestly think Rui and Reaves are two players we should pay whatever for, doesn't matter the price. Rui shouldn't be too expensive

Rui knows what's up, too bad Ham's dumbass doesn't.

What’s the market value for Rui now? 15 mil? 18? 20? 25?

I'd say probably around $15m, maybe up to $17-18m. Some team might throw more at him though. But we've seen his pros and cons in the playoffs.

In the Denver matchup he's been huge because he is the only guy other than Lebron and AD who has enough girth to somewhat passably defend Jokic. Against Golden State, we saw his weaknesses. He is more of a 4 than a 3 defensively. He also isn't a very good rebounder. Those things probably keep his value from going too high.

Give him and AR the keys in game 4 and live with the results. I don't want to see another minute of Lebron shooting 3s. Stick to being a playmaker.

Agreed.
He's been greatly successful when filling a very defined, and very valuable, roll.
But I don't think he's a guy you want to count on repeatedly to get his own shot.. that's one reason his value has a cap on offense. He's a decent defensive 4 and doesn't get torched by some of the bigger 3s, generally.

He's a keeper, though. For sure.

Which teams with cap space will even try to sign Rui in free agency?

Teams with cap space might try to sign Cam Johnson (RFA), PJ Washington (RFA) and Grant Williams (RFA) before going for Rui.

I think Rui will get around the full MLE personally

I love how far Rui has come but I really would like him to improve as a defender and on the boards. In general, he plays physically on offense but not on defense. But I have a bad feeling it's one of those things you just have. I remember Aaron Gordon being drafted and he was (for all his worts) always a physical player.

I don't think it's the end of the world, but I don't think you can have 3 guys who on defense/ the glass are either undersized (Schroder) or not very physical (Reaves, Russell, Rui).

I love this guy. One of my favorite Laker players now. I hope he's with the Lakers a long time.

So what's Rui's FMV? $15M per? A guy like KCP is earning $12M for reference. Rui still has upside and showed serious strides. Handy loves him. I want him back but genuinely have no idea what his value around the league is

KCP current contract is 2 years/30 mill
I think Denver would have paid more if they knew what they were getting
He’s been playing like a 20 mill per year guy

Rui definitely could get $15 mill per year if he was shopped around I reckon.

Rui is young and has offensive game, his defense on the bigs was definitely decent. He had a future.

Reaves might get a hefty $20+ million per year he has been absolutely lights out in these playoffs. Probably one of the most improved players. I’d say nobody would have expected him to Average 20+ points per game in the conference finals at super efficient shooting.

Reaves played like a Star, on that performance he could definitely be the 3rd option on a championship team.

Rui Hachimura called playing for the Lakers and making the Western Conference finals “one of the best times of my life.”

He called playing for the Lakers “crazy — in a good way” and said this season felt like two or three seasons in one.

Quote:
Hachimura said he’s very thankful for what this experience has been with the Lakers. Obviously, he’ll talk to his agents about next steps and making the best decision, but he certainly loved playing next to LeBron and AD and Co., and what it felt like being a Laker.
