We'd have probably 5 more wins.

The Lakers are 24-13 with Rui as a starter playing against a tough part of the schedule vs many of the top 6 seeds in both conferences. That win percentage (.647) protects to 6 more wins which would put the Lakers at 4th in the West.

If it is considered that the winning percentage would have been even higher during an easier part of the schedule since the win percentage was achieved vs the toughest part then perhaps there could have been 4 more earlier wins (I.e. Hou {Nov version not the good one now lol!}/SA/Mem/Chi) then the Lakers would be #1 top seed in the west had Rui started from the beginning. That’s a lot of ifs and wishful thinking lol! The point is that the record most likely would have been somewhere among the top 4 seeds had Ham not messed it up.

The argument I heard was that they were unsure Rui could be consistent unlike Prince.

I actually believe that to be true, but he still should have started..he doesn't need to be consistent with other scorers on the court like LBJ/AD. Unlike Prince, he is more multidimensional he can drive to the basket, shoot 3s, and his midrange is killer. None of the other starters have midrange game like him so he makes the starting lineup more complete.

Plus with the size of LBJ/AD/Rui, you likely are going to have a size mismatch somewhere that you can go to for points when the offense is cold from deep.

The only thing Prince was consistent at was being a net negative everytime he played.

Him playing 30 minutes a game for half the season is what screwed our place in the standings

true..too true!

I found some good reads this morning about Rui's earlier experiences in Japan and coming to the U.S.:

Rui can be inconsistent when it comes to his effort on both ends. But when he's on he's REALLY on. He's a solid 16 PPG guy right now that can go off for 25-30. If we got him to commit consistently to the defensive end he'd be an even bigger nightmare. Phil Handy has done a great job of maximizing his strengths and continuing to develop him. He's one of the biggest X-Factors to our staff. Rui's 26 and still has ways to go for his prime and is to be honest now just entering it. If he had been with us since being drafted I can only imagine where he'd be. But the fact we got him was a STEAL considering how he's been developing so far!

“Very comfortable,” James said of Hachimura’s play since Hachimura became the starting small forward on Feb. 3 in New York. “He knows where his shots are coming from. He knows he’s going to be on the floor. He knows he’s going to get minutes. … Gives us another big body, another athletic wing out there. When we downsize, a night like tonight, we had to play small at times, me and him, we can switch some things and still be able to clean glass, so he’s been very key for our success since he got here

Lebron has spoken. Don't mess with Rui's role. Any minutes for Gabe need to come from Cam, Prince and Christie.

23.1 MPG

Rui Hachimura since becoming full time starter vs the Knicks (23 Games)

15.7 PPG

Simply put, we need DLo-AR-Rui to produce at the same level as Gordon-MPJ-KCP, on both ends

I am really liking the 3's he's knocking down. I remember one of the announcers said last night that Rui has something against the Grizzlies... LMAO

This gives me hope, plus we’ll have defensive aces backing them up, Vando, Cam, Dinwiddie, Max, Gabe soon, maybe even a Dwight (sign him Jeannie!)

He does, his drives to the basket is similar to Bron (current Bron, not high flying Bron)

Tbh, I'm struggling to think of a 4th/5th option player that out produces Rui.

I was just trying to think of a way to mix their names into Miyagi and Daniel-san
and here is Master and Student

It depends on what you are getting back. There are over 30 players in the league I would trade him for, depending on the remainder of the deal.

Rui needs to grab some rebounds.

He had 0 last night and how big Rui is, that should never be.

That means he is giving absolutely no effort in that area.

He's so good. And his shooting in the playoffs was no fluke. 17 a year is nothing for him. He reminds me of Tobias Harris.
