Exactly why we should trade his ass. Same reason Washington did... no motor, below average D, inconsistent effort, soft on screens, etc.

Vuc is a far better fit and player.

Next game vs Heat is a loss again if he starts, Jacquez and Jovic will feast on him.

LOL I had the same exact thought in the game thread. 3 rebounds in 30 minutes. Wow.

Rui's strength in catching and shooting. Is great.

But it's a role he should have coming off the bench. He only started in the first place because Vando was hurt. So we'll see if JJ finally starts DFS in his stead.

Redick was quick to bench players when they didn't step up when he had alternatives already in mind. Let's see if he does the same with Rui after these back to back to back games and his often lackadaisical mentality.

Rui getting outmuscled by Castle.

Castle is not even that fast, Rui should have at least have some sort of resistance, but he just go throug Rui that easily.

I hate using this term but it fits Rui.

He doesn't have the dog in him. He's too nice.

Castle is 6' 5" 210 lbs compare to Rui who is 6' 8" 245 lbs to be just outmuscled like that. Castle didn't even use his speed advantage on him, he just basically went through him. Castle just bump him and he's out of his way, soft.

I don’t know that it’s about being nice. He just seems lazy to me.

I remember that first play. "Rui is softer than baby s***!" is what I recall I was thinking at the time

Rui game log vs Nuggets Round 1:

Game 1 : 7 pts 3 rebs in 31 mins
Game 2 : 3 pts 5 rebs in 37 mins
Game 3 : 5 pts 2 rebs in 27 mins
Game 4 : 9 pts 4 rebs in 21 mins
Game 5 : 15 pts 5 rebs in 34 mins

If you are expecting for Lakees to be in the playoffs then start rui until the end.

But if you wanna win a series, I dont think this is a winning starter.

Add to this that he is the one guarding MPJ who torched the Lakers.

For rui fanboys, I know overall rui have a good stats as a starter, but if you want him to be a starter until playoffs, I dont think they will win a series coz he is inconsistent with heavy minutes.

If your goal is to at least contend for a ring then adjust, but if your goal is just to be in the playoffs, then start rui all the way. lol

Rui has bought himself another 3-4 games of 'patience' when he has his usual terrible game streak before his starting position is in danger.

Grats on DFS for the baby, Rui took full advantage of him not being there to likely remain starter for now. Although the switch should still be made as we all know if Miami had Jimmy playing this was another loss.

That's why rui is just chill, need only 1 good game in 3-4 games to secure his starting spot. JJ not even challenging him coz he is afraid of his mental health. smh

Just emphasizes the point he needs to be the 6th man gunner off the bench without Lebron in the lineup.

Rui would thrive as that.

Rui is not Jamal Crawford or Lou Williams. We're Lakers fans, we should know first hand that the ability to get off large quantities of shots is a skill in its own right. Rui is not that guy. If he's scoring 15 points often it's because the other team's defensive game plan and/or focus let Rui get open C&S 3s or cuts to the basket... plus some transition scoring. Better defensive teams cover tertiary options like Rui better when they're locked in which is why Rui doesn't score as much against good teams (see: Nuggets last year)

That's what I said if Rui can give them 15+ points and 8+ rebs every game, they have a big chance to win not just 1 game in 4 games.

Yup because he will have Lebron's touches, unlike as a starter he is the 4th option.

Still think he'll play more freely without Lebron playing alongside him. He's more than a catch and shoot guy. He's not close to Lou in creating but his overall offensive game is pretty complete.

Just cant be utilized when you've got Lebron-AD-Reaves out there.

I still say the bench needs scoring and the starting unit needs defense.

I disagree his offensive game is complete, he'll score at all 3 levels if something is available but minus a mismatch in the post he can't actually create an advantage

They called it on the Lakers Legacy podcast. Rui's averages with AD out are pretty impressive...something like 18 PPG on 58% and 45% from 3. Also another committee member for that small-ball C lineup. It's also an opportunity to blow up his trade value.

Rui consistently becomes a 20+ ppg scorer whenever AD or LeBron are out.
