He said he feels about 70-80% on his knee and that he could use more rest on it BUT he realizes resting isn't an option right now.

Uh..Why isn't it an option? Rui should def rest if he's not 100%

It's gonna take some games for him and Bron to get going and build some chemistry with the rest of the team again.

But if Rui's body is saying he needs more rest he should listen to it.

I think he means he needs an off-season to rest and fully recover. Without that, he's as good as he's gonna be.

Yeah I don't know. I don't know exactly what he meant by that.

AnyWho he's listed as Questionable for tomorrow so frankly I hope he just rests.

It wasn't missing Rui alone that hurt the Lakers, it was missing multiple players. When Hayes AND LeBron went out as well, that's when the Lakers really started suffering out there. As long as the Lakers don't lose other players at Forward/Center , the Lakers should be able to rest guys here or there.

But, that's if efforts like yesterday aren't going to become the norm.

Not sure why he's coming off the bench. Wouldn't it be easier even on a min restriction to get him caught up when he's playing off 2 superstar PGs, Reaves than off the bench?

Weird way to bring him back into the mix, but the goal may be just to get him ready.

he's a liability out there now, especially when he's not hitting his jumpers. might as well just let him completely heal up, maybe Rui will be 100% by playoff time.

I’m glad he started. I was completely confused by the idea of you have a minute limit. So let’s warm you pre game and then sent you in the bench for 20 mins of real time to start each half and try to get you warm and loose vs other guys. It just makes more sense to me when a starter is hurt, you let him start in his return after each halves warm ups when his body is warm and loose. Then you guage how he’s feeling for the 2nd and 4th. Powell struggled when the clippers tried the same thing with the same injury and then Lue just went back to playing him how he would normally play

Clutch performance. Definitely our best catch and shoot guy. I just wish he was a bit more adept at finishing in traffic.

Agreed, those were much needed 3s when team couldn't defend at all. Great to have him back!

Yeah, he does seem to get stripped/blocked an inordinate amount of time when down there. Great to see his shot falling, though. Keep it up!

I think he hits at like 75% from 0-3 feet this year.

0-3 =75.4%

Bron is at 78.6%
Luka is at 68.2%
Reaves is at 75.8%
Hayes is at 84.7%

I mean I know it’s glaring at times because to start the year he would get stopped at the rim but he’s been pretty good up close all year in traffic especially when you realize he’s playing the small ball big and usually with people bigger and longer than him

Shooting 40% from 3PT

He'll get an obscene amount of open 3s playing with LeBron and Luka

Huh, interesting, thanks for the stats, I stand corrected.

This so much.

He's playing with jumpers knee which is very painful to deal with. He's still going out there and giving a lot of effort defensively, and hitting BIG shots.

His first few games back from injury it seemed like he was adjusting, but last couple of games he's been 4 of 4 from 3, and 3 of 5. Small sample size, but it doesn't feel like it is above our expectations too much, right?

.418 from 3 on 4.1 per game so far this year. .422 from 3 last year on 3.4.

Just really happy to have him on the team. He moves well without the ball, makes big shots, can get you some shots in iso situations. His rebounding has ticked up a little bit, which I know people have been hoping for him.

And he just turned 27 in february.

Rui & Jaxson (no matter what limitations folks says he has) are exactly what the teams that drafting them were hoping they would become. They're performing like the lottery picks they were AND get this, they still have not reach their peak years!

One, and preferably both has to be kept through their upcoming peak years.
