So the reports were right about him not being ready for training camp and preseason. Slight chance he's good to go on opening night.

ICYMI -

JJ Redick said that Jarred Vanderbilt’s return-to-play progression is going well and according to plan, and that the team will give an update in roughly two weeks. He added that they want to ensure Vanderbilt is 100% healthy, given that it’s a long season.

If he manages to stay on the court this time, the wait will have been worth it.

Hilarious. Until he plays and stays healthy, he’s a waste of time, money, and a roster spot. He should probably keep his mouth shut too, since he can’t exactly back anything up at the moment (and his past career is as middle of the road as it gets)

Ant already is annoyed when he plays the Lakers because they 'don't let him play' according to AD. If that's the case and he's told AD that, he's likely very happy that a healthy Vando wasn't out there.

Edwards talks a lot for somebody that doesn't really want Vando defending him,

Vando and Edwards are ex teammates. Probably close.

Yeah that 2022 Wolves team were all close, hence why the Vando/DLo/Beas trio who were part of that team, as stated by Reaves in his media day ESPNLA interview, brought new life/energy to the locker room trade deadline 2023.

During a recent installment of ESPN's Brian Windhorst And The Hoop Collective podcast, ESPN Lakers beat reporter Dave McMenamin unpacked the source of Vanderbilt's absence for most of last year — and the start of this one.

"I believe it was the right foot that caused them to miss most of the season after that Celtics game where they had that improbable win at TD Garden," McMenamin said. "He had the right foot, the mid foot issue taken care of, and the doctor [said], 'So long as we're going in, you're going to be off your feet anyway, let's go look in that left foot,' and there was a bone spur in there."

McMenamin reveals that Vanderbilt is still on the mend, but has hurdles to clear before he can don the purple and gold in a game just yet this season.

My understanding is that rehab has gone well, but he hasn't really tested it yet at all," McMenamin added

Yup. KD would’ve had to work a lot harder to get good looks with Vando out there

All signs seemingly pointing to having Vando and CWood back between Christmas and the ASG.

As the result, this leaves opportunities for others starting with Christie to prove that he deserves more PT.

At this time, interestingly that Christie's off-season work hasn't been effective to getting him more PT. Christie surprisingly is leaving many golden opportunities for players such as Knecht to Quincy to Reddish and even JHS to take some of his PT.

He has been indecisive in systems that others have totally embraced and thrived in the schemes that J.J has implemented.
