Per Dr. Jeffries (who - as I always disclaim - has never personally examined Vando, he is just talking about the injury in general terms based on his expertise.)

The bursa is a fluid filled sac that collects fluid and if it gets inflamed (bursitis) it can affect

—Landing
—Running
—Cutting

Rehab is to decrease the inflammation and get to a point where it’s pain free with those activities. Healing timeline can vary from days to weeks

Is bursitis something we should be worried about long term?

It's certainly concerning because it's the kind of thing that only goes away with rest but then it can flare up again at any moment. Heel bursitis on a basketball player is tricky zicky sounding.

That does sound concerning, but I guess this is the best possible time for it to happen. Not counting the offseason. This is why our depth is so important. Everyone else is thankfully healthy. Vando can rest as long as he needs and doesn't have to rush back.

Vando is definitely a player archetype we're missing in our lineup right now. We don't really have anyone else who can effectively defend wing scorer types. Really hope he can get back soon.

Love the possibility of what Cam and Vando can do for us defensively

Man I cannot begin to articulate how important this is. These guys on LG think this is a video game where you can put your 5 best offensive players out there and win with that. It is extremely critical to balance out the line up.

It sucks but I like that they are playing it safe. The guy plays with such a motor it's not worth risking it we need him big time to make a run down the stretch.

(11/1 - 6:30p)

Ham said some interesting things about Rui and then also goes into Jarred a little bit. He says that Jarred is on the floor continuing to improve and do work but he is only doing stationary work so far.

Video at link

Per SpectrumSN

Darvin Ham gives an update on injuries and the steps being taken to get players back on the court.

Jarred Vanderbilt attempting some stand-still shots in Orlando this morning. He’s yet to make his season debut, working through bursitis in his left heel.

Lakers say that team doctors reevaluated Jarred Vanderbilt and cleared him “to begin a return to play progression.”

Good to hear. Hopefully he can get back on the court soon and his impact will be as great as many of us are hoping.

What does that even mean? Seems like it'll take some time to ramp him up, no?

^ Word. And to me the most interesting "say what?" line in the full tweet was "Further updates will be provided as appropriate."

Now what does *that* mean? Lol. Dude hasn't played one minute this season. When would updates on his progress back to the court be "inappropriate"? Lol. Oookkkkkk

It'll be at least another 1-2 weeks before he plays. After every step, they're going to need to see how it feels the morning/day after.

He's going to have to go through:

A) Individual workout (Spot shooting, little movement)
B) Movement workout (Full shooting drills, running on the court)
C) Practice, no contact
D) Practice, with contact
E) Return to game

Looking at the schedule, my best guess for his return is Lakers @ Cavs, November 25th.

Yeah, not sure why that report was so surprising to some but he's obviously going to need some time to get back in playing shape after not playing at all this Season yet. Seems pretty normal to me? I do agree we need him back ASAP though!

9 days and 6 games to play against Mavs, hopefully, he'll be at least 75% by then.

We really need a sick day allocation in sports. You get 2 weeks. After that, your pay is deducted proportionally.
