Those rumors of mutual interest between the Lakers and Kawhi Leonard? Maybe it’s time to take them seriously.
The Spurs apparently are.
Multiple league sources also told ESPN that the Spurs have grown worried that Leonard’s group has an ulterior motive to fray the relationship and get Leonard traded to a larger market like Los Angeles (Leonard’s hometown) or New York or Philadelphia (Robertson lives in New Jersey).
One source close to general manager R.C. Buford said the longtime executive admitted to him that he’s constantly losing sleep over how and why the relationship with Leonard has disintegrated.
Quote:
I suggest reading Shelburne’s and Wight’s article in full. It’s the deepest dive yet into the disconnect between Leonard and the Spurs.
A big issue is clearly Leonard’s injury. San Antonio calls it quadriceps tendinopathy, but that’s not the only accepted diagnosis.

Yeah but this is a Lakers forum and the article says Lakers. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
We know if the Spurs were to trade him or were desperate to do so, instead of giving him the Super Max offer which he'd likely not walk away from.. that they know something the media doesn't.
That injury and his sister saying he's still not 100% keeping him out for the majority of the year, makes me feel that there's a lot we still don't know about it. Or aren't being told, or revealed or leaked to the media because it could mess up his money. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

After reading Ramona’s article, I agree. Something is very off and worrisome about the injury.
If the Spurs don’t offer the Super Max, something is definitely wrong imo.
This article basically paints the picture that Spurs organization is classy and trustworthy while Kawhi's 'group' is sneaky and in disarray
But the biggest thing is muscle vs tendon injury with ossification that sounds like has been a problem/growing problem for couple years now... this need medical check like crazy prior to trade

Knicks shouldn’t be mentioned especially since Pork will miss the whole 2019 season, the Celtics might be hesitant to give him Brown and Tatum especially since they have been leading the Celtics to playoff wins.... the Clippers seem like a darkhorse but that’s because they have West... but I don’t see him choosing the Clippers over the Lakers especially if we get 2 max.

Exactly. That is why I'd be worried. He's essentially their franchise player. if his sister is right and these stories aren't exactly coming from him, you've gotta wonder if the Spurs are behind it because they're trying to drive up value for Leonard in the trade market.
SOMETHING is up that we aren't being told. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

According to multiple sources, Leonard’s camp has come to believe the issue has more to do with an ossification or hardening in the area where the muscle has been repeatedly bruised and then an atrophying, which in turn affected the tendons connecting the muscle to the knee.
I'm not a doc, but this doesn't sound good. Why would you deal any young studs for this guy?

How else are you gonna find an mvp or potential superstar? You take chances. I'd keep BI and trade away the rest if I could. To me the only one untouchable is BI since he has elite length

Yeah, that paragraph gave me serious pause. Ossification?? What the hell is that?? I thought that only happened to cadavers.
And while Dennis Robertson doesn't sound as bad as Lavar, I'm at least confident Lonzo can separate himself from his dad. I'm not so sure about Kawhi with his uncle.

hope we make informed decisions on players with unproven/untested injuries
yeah, I'm sure the medical staff will be looking into that. however, I do think
the Spurs will send KL east, IF into trading... _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team !
This situation is very similar to Kyrie. He requested a trade. He had 1 more year left on his contract. He also had a history of knee problems and sure enough he missed the end of the regular season and playoffs. Some people here say wait until 2019. If the situation is that bad with the Spurs as reported he quite possibly won't be available in 2019. He will likely be traded this summer like Kyrie. Decisions will have to be made quickly for any team that wants him. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
