If they do miss the playoffs I really do not want to hear the narrative of how the “refs screwed them out of the playoffs” in those select games.
Yes, those bad calls lost them games. But this team has squandered way too many leads, played uninspired, and lost games all on their own all season long.
Up to the players on the court now. No more excuses or posturing in the media.
Just win games! |
I think it’ll be a moot point because if the Lakers start looking like they’re at risk not to make it, the refs will make up for those calls and then some. I don’t think it’ll have to come to that though. |

Jorge sedano had a refs report and it said the lakers have benefitted more than any team in the league from the refs in the final 2minutes.
They will certainly have our back down the stretch. _________________ Kobe.

Exactly and it will be easy to do because the perception out there is that the Lakers have been harmed most by the missed calls since the ones that went against them garnered a ton of attention. |

Lakers do not have the luxury to linger on past “ what could have been’s” or rely on “ getting calls” this next 23 games. They have dug too deep a hole.
Every game needs to be played with ruthless professionalism from the tip off.
Put teams away early and often and keep their foot on their throats.
They will lose games. Players will miss games. Teams will get hot like Portland. A few are simply better teams. Most of their opponents are likely considering their Laker matchup a “W”.
Laker players need to change that and start putting pressure on the multiple teams in front of them. Start winning games consistently.
We shall see if they are up to it. Starts against GS. A game they “ should” win. |

Might have to wait two games before the winning streak.
Would feel better if Dlo didn't turn his ankle.
I still think we can win if LBJ and AD get back to normal, but we will need more against Dallas and Memphis. |

Plus a road game against the Clips in LA so 13 games in LA and 9 away. _________________ “When it looks as if it is a realistic possibility, I want to focus on winning a ship like it’s a goal that can’t be denied. I didn’t see that this off season.” |

Looking at the remaining 21 games, and how well the Lakers have been playing since the trade (4-1), the only guaranteed loss in my view is one of the two games against the Suns (I can't see the Lakers sweeping the KD-Suns).
Every other game is absolutely winnable. I think the Lakers can go on multiple big winning streaks. Could they feasibly finish 16-5 in the last 21 games? A 45-37 record would almost certainly put the Lakers in the 6th seed. |

This is heavily assuming LeAnkle and Day to Davis don’t miss a game.
I’m already thinking LeAnkle is out one of these next 2 games. |

Yes, you’re right that I’m assuming general health. But I have no idea which games LeBron and AD will miss.
So I’ll amend my previous statement by saying that the Lakers may also assume 4 games missed by LeBron and AD each. Let’s presume 2 overlap and those can be pencilled in as guaranteed losses. Then, the Lakers would have 4 games in the last 21 in which only one of LeBron or AD will play, but I believe those games would still be considered winnable.
If the Lakers have three guaranteed losses in the last 21, that means a 16-5 record to finish is still quite plausible. |

Unfortunately, in seemingly typical Lakers fashion, the Lakers are down their best three players in LeBron, AD, and DLo at the most critical juncture of the season.
Would truly love some deep reporting on the Lakers' investment in their medical department... |

Not going to make it.
The 2 max players don’t play enough for this team to make it. The 2 stars are all talk. |

Yep, 3/4 of the season done and their down their 2 best players. Lebron said he would try to play the rest of the games and he's out a minimum of 2 weeks. Lakers are done. |

As I said after the Lebron news, I don't see any reason this team can't get to at least 39 wins, it's almost a lock. The other teams have been miserable. Portland can't buy a win, and OKC is floundering. We're right there. We have a new team and a lot of energy and purpose. The trade came just at the right time.
Lebron injury sucks, but they'll be able to get to 39-40, and with the way OKC, Portland, New Orleans are playing, I see us being able to get to at least 10th. Most likely 9th. |
