Look at his clown father and the idiots he has brought to the games. Dressing like a teenager, talking trash, wanting to fight people right there on the floor. The game isn't even about that clown, and yet he has interjected himself into the everything. A young man's strongest influence is his father. Now look at the mess Ja is in. I stand by my statement.

Speaking as a Boomer, it sort of amused me to see Patrick Beverley shaking his head about "those kids these days" and "that damned music they listen to":

https://www.talkbasket.net/161685-patrick-beverley-explains-what-motivates-ja-morants-behavior

I know exactly what he means. That evil rock 'n' roll ruined my generation. We all became degenerates, perverts, and burdens on society. And we're damned proud of it! Now get off our grass!

Seriously, though, while there may be cultural influences that affect people like Morant, I don't buy the idea that music videos are an excuse for anyone's behavior. People have free will. My generation understood that Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne were entertainment. I don't think that the younger generations are really any different, at least in that respect. Now, really, get off my damned grass.

Brandishing a weapon in a business where liquor is served isn't against any laws? I've been living in California too long.

I'm guessing he was waving the gun around in a friendly and inviting manner?

He'd more of a badass if he livestreamed himself waving his fat NBA checks around

Sigh

He was taking time out of his demanding schedule to help put some local women through nursing school, donating $50,000 to them, and everybody paints him as the bad guy.

Lots of players do good deeds and support charities of different sorts. That's not a free pass. The question is whether Morant can get his life on track. I'm hoping that he does. Actions speak louder than words.

Bottom line, I hope he and his clown father learn from this and both become better people.

We now see how Nike views Irving (twitter post) v. Morant (instagram post) which were both stupid.

His dad also seems like a piece of work so the apple doesn't fall far from the tree....
Fame and fortune do have impact on people...
Some are humbled by it, some are not.
That's why I always liked the Durant and LeBron stories. Both raised without fathers and took care of their moms once they got famous.
Ja should be very thankful he is in the position he is in now, fame wise.
Don't screw it up to look brave and cool for a generation of possible idiots that love guns, gangster lifestyle, etc...
not worth it...
not as cool as it once was....

I see him being suspended at least half the season, maybe more. League will make a clear example of his stupidity of not growing up & gangster wish.

How much did Gil get? He should at least get the same or longer.
The guy wants to ruin himself, they should give him his wish.

It’s funny how the Grizzlies said Dillon Brooks will “not be brought back under any circumstances” for talking smack to LeBron, but Ja has a gun incident twice and is only suspended.

Came out the Grizzlies NEVER said that. That was Shams quote on his own interpretation of how the Grizzlies were going to handle Brooks.

Plus like it or not, one guy is a superstar and the other is a very mediocre and replaceable role player. The Superstar will always get substantially more leeway whether it's right or not.

Agreed. It all starts at home, Ja wasn’t raised right…the people around him have enabled his bad behavior and it’s getting more out of hand.

Ja for Jaylen Brown, who says no? Celtics get rid of the risk of Brown walking after next season, and Memphis gets a premium two way wing player in exchange for a headcase.
