Quote:
"Man, if we get one training camp under our belt with this group, the sky's the limit. With that being said, we don't have a training camp under our belt, and the sky's still the limit."

- D’Angelo Russell

This got me thinking, I would LOVE to see this group back with a training camp under their belt. The likelihood of everyone on this team coming back is a different story.

The 7 free agents next season:

1) D’Angelo Russell
2) Austin Reaves
3) Dennis Schröder
4) Rui Hachimura
5) Troy Brown Jr.
6) Lonnie Walker IV
7) Wenyen Gabriel

Be interesting to see how many, and who, come back next season.

It was good to hear that DLo's goal is to play here next season.

That's a funny quote.
So why couldn't we put this funny quote in the DLo thread?

I loved hearing that but I don't see the FO paying up for that. Even if we won a title can guarantee they would penny pinch with the luxury tax implications.

Probably keep DLO, reaves, and Rui. Schroeder will be looking to get paid, Lonnie would want more minutes. We could keep Gabriel and Brown depending on the market. Brining everyone back is a long shot

We have capspace to sign most of these guys back.

What exactly are you people talking about? Unless you all think DLO is gonna get $35 mill per, Reaves $20 mill (he literally can’t thanks to the Arenas rule), Rui $20 mill or something.

Vando, Christie, Lebron, AD, Beasley, Bamba, etc are all under contract. So they can all be brought back.

The only players that some fans here want back here too but can’t literally because we don’t have their bird rights, are Schroder and Troy Brown Jr. But everybody else is realistic and not exactly Jeanie breaking any banks to do it.

MUST BRING BACK
D’Angelo Russell
Austin Reaves
Dennis Schröder
Rui Hachimura

Troy Brown Jr. - would be nice to resign as a 3 and D guy whose only 23yo.
Lonnie Walker - don’t see him returning, but even if he doesn’t, we should be fine.
Wenyen Gabriel - would be good to bring back, but I’m sure we can find a serviceable back up big in FA.

Dennis Schroder is unlikely. We don’t have his bird rights. Same with Troy Brown. Lonnie Walker he can go. He’s not useful for this team unfortunately.

Everybody else can be brought back. Not that difficult either.

Schro’s impact is underrated. He helped kept the team from sinking earlier in the season by starting, allowing Westbrook to come off the bench and helped the team win games starting while Dlo was out with the ankle.

Both Schro and TBjr should be brought back with the exceptions…even if it means declining Beasley’s option.

I hated Schro during his first run but I've grown to like him more and more.

If he wants to stay for a discount I'd welcome him, but I don't think we can afford him. If he wants to stay for an exception then maybe we can reward him later.

I do prioritize him behind DLo and Reaves though.

Rui's had two good games in a row.

He's gone from the odd man out back into contention while Beasley's stock has lowered a little.

In 2021 remember Schro declined a four-year extension with up to $83,328,000 in base salary with the Lakers. Turns out no other team made him an offer that year and was stuck playing for an MLE on some other team.

Schro has built a great chemistry here with the team and looks like he feels at home. He isn't a starter but is getting starter minutes. He's the leader in the second unit and has earned the coaches trust. Plus, he is in LA. I'm sure the Lakers will compensate him but we'll see if he'll accept it this time around.

How I look at this situation.

DLO must be back. And I think he will be.
AR - comment not needed.
DS - I would bring him but has to be reasonable price. We cannot overpay him.
Rui - I would bring him but same as Dennis. Has to be good price.
TBJ - Would love to have him but also there is guys like him you can sign. I will not cry if he leaves.
LWIV - don't care. Not useful. I hate his game recently. Trying to put stats. Any time he has a ball he shoots. Disgusting.
Gabriel - For cheap yes. For something more than that no way.

Maximum priority
- DLO
- AR

For the right price
- DS
- Rui
- TBJR
- Gabriel

LW is the odd man out right now

OP and DLO are 100% right. Training camp would help so much. DLO is making connections with teammates on the fly. Right now Dennis knows this team way better in terms of who wants the ball where, but once DLO understands this team, watch out league.

My top 3 Lakers should bring back:

Quote:
- DLO, so nice to have a half-court PG who can create for his teammates and also create his own shots while shooting consistently from long range.

- AR15, all of LA will riot if Jeanie/Rob let’s him go like they did Caruso. Winning basketball player integral for a championship team.

- TBJ, this guys has quietly become one of our consistent 3&D team player. So very underrated.

Players I would love to have back at the right price:

Quote:
- Schroeder, he literally became AD’s Pippen in a lot of stretches when LBJ and DLO were out.

- Rui, man if he just starts being consistently aggressive, he has 6th man potential.

I will say at the very least, we should have never let Brook Lopez go after that trade.

Especially now on a team with Lebron and AD. People here talk so much about Zubac, but Brook was BY FAR the MOST PERFECT Center for this team you could possibly ask for. And he wanted to come back here before us saying no and signing a cheep deal with the Bucks.
