How can you claim Bronny brings “passing”? Have you looked at his assists numbers? He creates nothing for anyone else.

He played 96 total minutes in the preseason.
He had 2 assists.

Stop defending this bum. It’s annoying. He can’t shoot, and he doesn’t create anything for anyone else. He played 35 minutes tonight and the team gave up 132 points and lost by 58. Theres are no intangibles Bronny brings.

You can claim JHS sucks. I’ll agree. But I at least know what his position is. It’s a PG. He at least can create offense for others. Bronny does nothing. He just runs up and down the floor.

Tough decisions. They will either park him in the g-league again or give him another opportunity to show out in the regular reason. Granted playing your way back into game shape after back surgery is a difficult endeavor, but fans expected more than this.

Yup, at this point, he's salary filler. Hopefully, team can talk themselves into taking a flyer if he's part of a bigger deal but I'd assign a lower 2nd round pick as value for him.. at most. But for us, there is just no way to play him and not expect bad things to happen.

I can actually see Bronny improving with more court time. He's actually shown flashes however minimal. JHS is a train wreck out there after a full season plus college. It's a mid-off but Bronny is in the lead.

Didn’t like the pick when we made it but still a bit surprised he’s this bad. He came up big for Indiana in some big games. Just looks totally lost.

This is the rare occasion where the "eye test" was wrong.

I could see pelinka and Co thinking Mike conley, d fish, etc - yet those guys were leaders

NBA is a different animal. We have 3-4 non NBA players
on the payroll.

His main problem is mental. I don't think he really understands basketball well enough to be a point guard.

I agree with this....bronny is a short Lamar Odom....good at several things...great at nothing...only Lamar had size and a handle for his size that made him valuable. Bronny needs to perfect one skill!

Yeah that’s why I didn’t love it at the time. IIRC he had a good tournament run and excelled in workouts. Probably thought they were getting someone closer to being ready to contribute. Really putrid drafts the last couple years except for Knecht (who inexplicably dropped to them and they didn’t even work out.)

2018 Mo Wagner (good pick, never should have gotten rid of him)
(Didn't have a pick from 2019-2022)
2021: Austin Reaves (Undrafted, Great pick)
2022: Max Christie (2nd Round, Solid)
2023: JHS
2024: Knecht, Bronny

That's 5 drafts and only 1 pick that's considered bad. Bronny is considered bad if you want to count him too.

But Wagner, Reaves, Christie, Knecht. No bad picks there. And the people they've obtained outside of the draft is almost more impressive.

Reaves wasn’t a draft pick. Christie is fine but mostly still TBD. JHS, Lewis, and Bronny are terrible.

I’m not trying to stick up for the current FO but they have added some very nice pieces that we can either groom them or trade them in a big trade, JHS is essentially the only bad pick, Christie was a 2nd round pick so if he turns into a solid rotation piece then you can’t complain about that, MaxL and Bronny had no pressure when we bought them to the Lakers, even if they stink it up we accept it and move on

Only a real anti-Pelinka FO Laker fan would say that Austin Reaves wasn’t a Lakers pick. he was scouted by the Lakers FO and Scouts before bringing him on.. not everything they do end ups working out but plenty of bright spots to look at

I agree that JHS is really the only bad pick of consequence. Most teams have a revolving door of 2nd rounders that nobody even cares about. You're just looking for someone who can break into and stay in the NBA at that level, not a rotation player.

The main problem is how they've opted to use these picks. They used 1FRP to go from Danny Green to Schroder, which was arguably not the right move even if you didn't include the first, and then Schroder walked anyway. Then another FRP to trade for Russ, and then another FRP to get off Russ. Then JHS instead of trading the FRP, and Dalton instead of trading this year's FRP for a meaningful upgrade.

Dalton was the absolute best case scenario and nobody expected him to fall to 17th -- they got bailed out. It was bad process, good results. The latter is all you can hope for since the former is a given with this team.

Trading Danny Green at that time was the right move he was on the crisp of being cooked when we traded him, getting Schroeder was a good move and even now I would welcome him back with open arms if we end up making a deal with Brooklyn the only unfortunate part was that if we didn’t do the Danny Green trade we probably have Jaden McDaniels on this team which would have been amazing

max lewis has been disappoonting as well...such a waste if he doesn't improve soon...

watched the whole disaster last night...jhs can really learn a lot from someone like dfish, maybe he should try to work with him...

in his defense, i thought jhs organized the team well and distributed the ball well...he had 7 assists and no one else had more than 2...

they cut into the lead a bit in the 3rd, jhs went out, lead went back up again...

he can get into the paint and get a shot off...he xam get to spots after putting his man on his hip and get a shot off...

he just has no touch on offense...

he can play point but he really needs some offense...

Christie, JHS, Lewis, and Bronny all look like non contributors. I don’t see any of them as good picks. If you arguing a pick can only be considered to be bad based on other available talent, then sure most 2nd rd picks will never be considered “bad”. But I see no difference makers here.

Have they had a sure fire NBA starter pick since Zubac?

Not a very illustrious list of 2nd rounders. Best pick was Marc Gasol

FWIW Hart almost fell to the 2nd round in 2017. We nabbed him at the very end of the first round. All signs pointed to him going to the 2nd if we didn't pick him, but I'm glad our (previous) scouts saw what many other teams missed.

All the sleepers management used to find are few and far between now, with AR being the last one in 2021. As other have said, Knecht was a super easy one for them this year because he was easily the BPA and projected to go top 10 in most mocks. Edey's stock going up in the last minute helped us land Knecht too.

Funny thing is if they drafted Cam, Jaquez or Podz last year, this organization would be well on their way to redeeming past blunders. Not saying JHS is a complete bust yet, but signs are not promising atm.
