This the one from summer league that had high energy and was really aggressive? If so, I like what I saw. |

I think he was no. 55 if I recall. Hit a three on his first touch after entering.
Figueroa played high energy with the putback finishes if that's who you might be thinking of. |

Hodge is great on defense.
He causes a lot of chaos for the ball handler, steals or deflects the ball a lot, and screws with the opponent's passing lanes.
Very smart and active defender. |

Hodge has been a pleasant surprise.
After a shaky start he has found his groove and has been impressive on both ends of the floor.
Hodge is a mature, heady player who plays with passion and energy.
He fills the stat sheet in nearly every category when he has the opportunity.
If he doesn't make the Lakers, he'll be a star in the G-League w/ the SoBay Lakers. Nice pick up by the Buss Boys.
Stats vs Hornets: 16 Pts, 5 Rbs, 2 Asts, 1 Stl, 2 Blks |

He has poise, plays the right way and knows his spots. Doesn't force it and lets guys like JHS or Castleton set him up for buckets. That alone will give him a chance to make the roster. There are benefits to having guys who do the full 4 in college. They are physically and mentally mature and ready to play at a higher level (see Josh Hart). _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Definitely seems like a KCP clone. Solid athlete with a high motor. Gets after it defensively and is not afraid to make a play with the ball in his hands even if the results can be erratic. Looks to be even more of a sniper than KCP although I don't think Hodge quite as big as KCP. |

He should be the 3rd guard off the bench this season after Vincent/Christie. _________________ "He's a Zen master, so he can speak to you, and he doesn't need a microphone; you can hear him in your head, 'Ron, don't shoot, don't shoot.' Whatever, pow, three. I love the Zen, though." |

KCP is more like 6'5- 6'5 1/2. Hodge is more like 6'4. Doesn't matter, the guy is good. Hodge is really enjoyable to watch on defense. He's got that pick pocket move down pat when guys turn the corner, and don't shorten their dribble.
He has the same advantage as Reaves did last year: maturity. It will also help Castleton. Their games are advanced because they stayed in college.
It's the perfect recipe for the Lakers because it provides us with players who are able to contribute almost right away, and stick around for the future. |

KCP MEASUREMENTS: 6'5, 204 pounds, 6'8 wingspan, 8'4.5 standing reach.
I can’t find D’Moi’s official measurements.
Did see some random stuff while searching, though:
Quote: | The list of NCAA players since 2009 to post at least > 60% 2P, 40% FG, > 4 STL%, 2 BLK %
Victor Oladipo (2012-13)
D'Moi Hodge (2022-23)
The list of NCAA players since 2009 to post over 5 STL% & 1.5 BLK% while attempting over 5 pointers per game:
Marcus Smart (2013-14)
D'Moi Hodge (2022-23) |
Quote: | The 13th high-major NCAA player to have a turnover percentage below 8% while maintaining a usage rate over 20% this past season |

He patterns his game off KCP so thats a good thing that he does. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

What happened to his game? The guy I saw earlier was a menace in the passing lanes and stripping balls. Now he's a one dimensional shooter. |

Missed the last two games but Cranjis pod mentioned he's been a lot more disciplined instead of over-committing for steals and blocks. That might be why. |

I really like this kid. Quick shot release. He's smooth out there. Quick hands, shifty and constantly moving.
Definitely a keeper! |

Like I mentioned before the summer league, I think he's probably the most NBA ready of the new guys. His role is much simpler than JHS and Castleton. Just make shots, play D. JHS has to run and organize the offense. Castleton has to man the middle and captain the D. Those are tough transitions.
Hodge doesn't need the ball in his hands. Has a super quick release and will space the floor. Just play D, hit threes. |

Hodge is averaging 16.3 points per game while shooting 50% from the field and 40.7% from deep. |

Hodge has a skill we badly need — 3-point shooting — and at 6-foot-4, he's not a small guard. I'm glad we've got him on a two-way contract. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

Yep, I think that's it too. I've been watching the games. He is more disciplined with his attempts to steal the ball. He had one ocassion in the game prior to last night's where he missed a steal attempt, and his man got behind him.
I think he realizes that, in the coaches eyes, it's better to play solid man-to-man defense, than to give the impression he takes unnecessary risks and create problems for his teammates.
He's got real quick hands, and he's crafty with them. It's no wonder why he was No.2 on some guy's list of undrafted sleepers. He's for real. |
