This should be an obvious answer. Cam plays above average POA defense. The eye & advanced numbers back this up. Morris does what exactly? Bring positive vibes? We have enough unplayable guys taking up roster spots. Hope they make the right decision

With Christie gone, Cam is our best defensive perimeter guard if his head is in the game (Vandy and Dorian are forwards; Gabe is small). Hopefully Reddish can get it together come playoff time.

JJ Redick says Cam Reddish is still away from the Lakers, having become a father to a new baby girl.

Congrats to Cam.

Great for Cam. Waive him so he can spend more time with his daughter and Cam 2.0 (Goodwin) can take over for him.

But yeah...
But also, for real, congrats to Cam! I've gotta say, I admire him becoming a defensive first player. It's a big humbling from someone who was considered a top prospect. It's too bad his 3 point stroke is so atrocious, hope he manages to figure it out and stick in the league.

But Goodwin gives you better offense, rebounding, and just as (?) impactful defense

Still no reason to sign Koloko, Jamison, or Goodwin to the last day of the season. Also no reason to cut Kieff, Cam, or Wood until something really worth it pops up. Keep your assets as assets

The Lakers need to see if he'd do better than Knecht right now. Knecht is just not giving much out there.

I remember when Reddish was getting minutes earlier in the season because of his defense.

A lot of minutes might be opening up depending on how long Rui is out. Knecht can't just get the bulk of them, because he stinks right now.

Reddish's defense is better than anything Knecht is putting out there.

They don't need to. They have Goodwin to do what Reddish would, and they shoot about the same. And Knecht is there to keep the defense spread because they're worried about his three point shot, which opens the lane for Luka and/or LeBron or Reaves.

Reddish can't be a decoy because he isn't a three point shooter, and Goodwin, Vando, DFS already cover whatever he'd given defensively and are better at it than him.

Until Rui comes back I’d be cool just rolling with just:
Jax/Jemison
LBJ
DFS/Vando
AR/Goodwin
Luka/Gabe

no Knecht, no Cam, no Shake no Morris, no Len
We’ll have to see if LBJ/Luka are available next game tho.

This is why you don’t waive a versatile player like Cam. He can play 3 positions including power forward. And he is still young at 25 yrs old.

And yet he apparently still cannot crack the rotation. Last played in Philly over a month ago.

To be fair, Cam was out for personal reasons, which was probably related to the birth of his child.

Jordan Goodwin has played extremely well which is the real reason he is out. I would still like to have him as insurance for Vando/RUI/X injury.

Waive Shake.

Shake has a contract that will be able to be bundled together with other contracts to make a move during the off season. It’s not guaranteed, so it works well as salary filler since the receiving team can just cut him themselves. If the Lakers are going to be looking for a big man in the off season, then Shake’s contract would be very helpful to have.

Then waive Markieff Morris.

The guy's confidence is in the sh!tter. I would rather put my hopes on Shake Milton and hope he has one of those good shooting games.

What makes you say this?

Especially since NBA players tend to play well after having a kid.
