Pelinka doesn't have final say or maybe even a vote in the lineups. Ham's going to do what he do - even if it means putting a hedge/switchy big in drop like he did with Jones last year.

Don’t care about his hairstyle, do care that he appears to be in great physical condition and that he’s in the gym

I know right? I just care about whether he performs on the court or not.

let's be honest though - that's not a very high bar

If he can consistently give us what he did against the Nets, that'd be huge.

He got 8/7 last night in 21 minutes and played good D mostly.
I suspect that as he gets more burn with the rest of the team, he could probably improve on those #'s (on a per minute basis - it's not certain he'll be able to get 21min a night)
If he keeps playing like this, with the same energy, he might get minutes with AD though - especially if AD's outside shot keeps falling

Still very early but you can see why they pivoted to Hayes over Bamba.

Haven't watched any preseason. But I agree the ability for AD/Hayes to play together depends on AD's ability to shoot the ball. I'm really encouraged by what I've been hearing though!

Anyone who has seen my posts knows I really liked this move. As soon as he was let go by the Pelicans I knew he would be a much better replacement for Bamba. He moves so much better, a better athlete, runs the floor and brings energy. Not basing his performance on stats…but on his energy, the picks he sets, how hard he roles, runs the floor and his effort on defense.

I was loud in wanting Bamba returning over him

He has been proving me wrong. Plays with more energy and gets up and down the court quicker than Bamba (or wood for now) could ever. Seems to be a good teammate also.

I was with you. Wanted Bamba back big time….but when it was announced Pelicans we’re not bringing Hayes back I switched choices quickly. A much better athlete and like you said a lot of energy and runs the floor 100x better.

I see Wood as kind of the Bamba replacement. Hayes as the Wenyen replacement.

No wonder the Lakers quickly pivoted away from Bamba. Like the complete opposite energy/athleticism wise.

I'm always in support of young, cheap players with potential over older, expensive, washed players. We lose experience, but we gain a potentially higher ceiling and cap flexibility. Plus the young guys are more energetic and fun to watch.

Would never have guessed he’d look this good. Looks focused 100% of the time he’s on the court, so far (and appears to be a great teammate, too)

Huge upgrade on Wenyen

Bamba last night 16 minutes and zero points but more importantly no energy, slow feet etc. Hayes the exact opposite. I’ll say it again, I was extremely surprised the Pelicans gave up on his so early. Just 23 years old and a lot of upside with his energy alone.

I saw one of his stints and came away with the same impression. Just looks like he doesn't really like basketball. He missed a 3 which is his appeal and then he was getting successfully targeted on the other end. A rebound bounced right over his head. I was intrigued when the Lakers first got him but it didn't take long to see why he's not a contributor.

He reminds me of Bynum. I know Bynum had injuries but he lost interest in the game of basketball pretty early on in his career. Zero motivation.
I know some folks were hyped on Bamba but I never saw what some were seeing. Happy we have Hayes and Wood. They are upgrades over Bamba and Gabriel.

This is what we really need. Not to necessarily replicate the 2020 Championship team, but to have a body that is willing to bang and play D so Davis doesn't have to agaist the likes of Jokic
