I hope they don't wear those gold or yellow jerseys tho.

Have to go with white or black.

Court looks fine as at least there's some contrast to help the eyes a little but when are we getting a video board update? Seems like after the 2010 title we've had that same tiny (by today's NBA arena standards) display above center court and with the newfound Crypto $$ what gives?

They look okay when photographed on their own and viewed as a 2" jpeg. We are wearing black uniforms tonight, so at least the players shouldnt blend in to the background. If the NBA had used some AI to create game footage with these courts, I think they wouldve changed the design. Lets see how distracting it is tonight. Our eyes have been trained to watch these images on a wooden background for decades, it will take time to adjust.

In other news, ESPN reported that ratings are up 55% for the in-season tuournament games compared to last years regular games.

I’ve seen some Good suggestions to make the in-season tournament (IST) more interesting and added some of my own:

- Let the groups be existing divisions so that group winners can be thought of as in season division winners,

- Schedule division games such that all games played during the IST count toward the IST for simplicity,

- IST champion gets no lower than 8th place for post season play-in,

- IST runner up gets no lower than 10th place for post season play-in,

- IST championship game W/L used as the 1st tie breaker for post season seeding (only if record would have otherwise been tied of course!):
— winner (only for tie) considered to have 1 more win for half game bonus
— loser (only for tie) considered to have 1 more loss for half game penalty

It may seem bad punishing the loser of the IST but using the result as a tie breaker increases the potential intensity and interest of the IST championship game plus the loser still gets automatic post season bid to the play in.

How do you propose the league bumps teams with better records in favor of a couple teams that won some glorified random games in Nov/ Dec?

Likely will not be an issue when all is completed. I’m guessing the “winner” of the IST will end up being a quality playoff team anyways. But suppose for a second it isn’t. And at the end of the season the 11th/ 12th ranked team in the standings is now elevated into the play-in over teams that have better records overall ? Or if a team is hovering around the backend of a andings they can choose to tank or rest players the final several games. They are locked in with your proposal.

The hype around this IST is kind of silly IMO. The media blitz, the announcers hyping it, the ridiculous cartoon courts, the marketing of regular season games as somehow elevated in importance.

Glad some are buying in and enjoying it. Just not my thing. But altering the playoff seeds because of these games? Come on!

The teams bumped would be the 10th team in the standing. I’d be cool with that. Better to have the 10th team miss the play-in instead of the team that won the in-season tournament. It can be considered questionable if the 9th and 10th are worthy anyway and perhaps appropriate if they have to fight for their post season lives until the end.

Besides, it wouldn’t be just random games, it would be designated as the in-season tournament with the whole purpose to make them meaningful. They would have to make the knock out round which is a four game schedule, then win the quarter finals, and win the semi finals. That is more work than the playin team has to do…which is to just win two games as a 10th seed…to make the playoffs. In-season tournament champ participant would have to do more work than that just to make the play in.

Draymond I mean is always extra. But I thought that call on Klay was pretty bad I thought they should've just double T-d him and the other guy and kept going. But I guess the league was right that having this little tournament would add intensity to regular season play.

Draymond should be suspended for that

I expect he will be because he just got tossed out of the game before that so I'm sure the league will be like why don't you just take a little personal moment.

The Lakers are first on account of their better point differential.

The NBA never really made this part clear: Tuesdays and Fridays in November are tournament days.

Heard that hat the 1st tie breaker is point differential not head to head. If that is so the Lakers are +20ish points ahead of the Jazz. That should mean the Lakers are most likely close to a lock on the group win.
