True, the shaqtin thing was funny, but it pissed javale off at times because he's certainly not stupid. Had a 4.5GPA in high school, I believe?

He looked pretty cooked. But if they strike out on Wood/Biyombo, could be a Dudley type bench player who can help mentor Hayes. Lakers do like bringing back familiar faces.

I realize Shaq’s portrayal of McGee on TNT was inaccurate, but the idea of the face of the Shaqtin’ a fool segment being a mentor to anyone is hilarious.

He's now a 3 time NBA champ and someone who has been in the league now for 15 years. I think he's past the Shaqtin' days and can be a good voice for someone like Hayes.

I wouldn't count on much on court value (ergo why there are other better targets) but he can provide other things.

To be fair, McGee earned the “Shaqtin” label with several boneheaded plays iirc.

As for signing him, no clue if he can be a contributor or just an end of the bench towel waver. Up to the scouts and coaches to figure out that one. I have vague memories of swing him occasionally in the past couple years and thinking his talents had dropped off significantly since 2020.

I prefer they sign a C that can play some important mpg. If that is McGee, so be it. If not, look elsewhere. Lakers do not have the luxury to bring in “nice stories” instead of players.

Agree. Moreso, calling it crazy is being nice…it’s looks like to me to be much worse than just crazy…especially considering how many times it has happened before with this particular GM/Owner. My personal preference would be to pass, I don’t believe JaVale can provide the Lakers any useful minutes at this stage of his career, but that’s just speculation on my part. Continuing to speculate, I’d think Castleton from the 2-way would provide more production than a seeming over-the-hill option like McGhee.

They’re letting McGee and Wood go, keeping Morris. Maybe it’s a directive from Luka ala Bron in LA

Well, lots of people saying Heat/Lakers should go after Wood too. And Mavs could use a player like Wood (and have his Bird rights too).

we are either a contender or not. If we arent, JaVale doesn't change it. If we are he doesn't enhance it.

Same goes for Bamba, Walker etc.

Just read he's going to the Kings.

On the one hand I kind of sentimental he wanted him to come back home. But on the other hand I don't know that he would do anything for his death. But I mean he's a good energy guy whatever I like JaVale so I would've liked him but oh well congrats to him good luck in Sacramento.

LOL. Voice dictation. I thought I went back and caught everything but clearly not LOL

Pretty sure I was saying I don't know what he would do for us with our current depth. Sorry JaVale

Sacramento is on the map because they are a winning program now. Only took them 20 years. I hope John Vale McGoo does well there.

That being said, he's in the DeAndre Jordan twilight phase of his career. I would still play Alex Len over him.
