2023/2024 Season Starters/Minutes/Rotation

Russell seems to be the best player on the roster to run the offense when it's not being run by LeBron. That would include both the start of games (when Bron tends to take a back seat on both ends), and in non-Bron minutes. Reaves on the other hand is better as either the secondary initiator, or when taking advantage of the defense gearing up to stop Bron. That can be second side, in the short roll, or when the matchups dictate. That also makes him a better option to close than Russell.

The question then becomes who are the other players on the wing. We benefit from 3-and-D types there, not only creating space offensively, but allowing Davis to spend less energy on defense and t/f more on offense. For as much as people see Denver as having exposed Russell in last year's WCF, it's probably more about the Lakers mixing and matching our three initiators with sufficient size and athleticism.

This should be the 7 man rotation until Van/Vin returns. Depending on the match up and “who” is more effect “where” it may be necessary to experiment interchangeably with AD/Wood at C/PF, LBJ/Rui at PF/SF, and Dlo/AR at SG/PG, but only these 7 should be used to compete in games to try to win.

Hayes/TaP/MaxC should get garbage time and emergency play only.
