Both teams will look totally different by the end of the season. Judging this team on the first game is just a waste of time at this point. |
Why would the Nuggets change anything? They've just won a championship and this same team is playing great. I think you're mistaking the Nuggets front office with the Lakers front office in 2020.
Lakers are a decent team too. At least they look much better than when they still had Westbrick. Lakers are good. It's just that Nuggets are just much better right now and I doubt there's any trades that would improve the Lakers that much considering their lack of assets. |
Man you're digging too deep after game 1 of the season... 81 games to go man. Nothing needs to be done right now. |

I used to let losses like tonight bother me more.
Now I’m still not happy our Lakers couldn’t get a little revenge tonight against the champs and we won’t see them again until February in Los Angeles
but I think my current mindset is more angry at Governor Newsome for raising taxes on firearms and ammunition
PK knows what I’m talking about!
Either way back to our Lakers…..
Taurean Prince and Christian Wood, how in the hell did Rob pull that off??!? |

Not a bad loss imo. DLO and Reeves shot poorly and AD was inefficient... we still played them relatively tough.
DLO really really really needs to have average games against Denver. Not even good ones... I'm talking 18-20 points while shooting his normal percentage. Not worried about Austin.
We'll get them. _________________ "He may say it's not you, it's him.... but it's really you." |

I like Cam and tbh was disappointed with his preseason performance but he was great tonight.
AR is our starter and let’s not be too quick to forget he’s still HIM.
We’re not facing elite defensive guards like KCP every night. |

If AD really wants to take it to the next level, his 3 ball has to drop. Otherwise I don’t think we have a chance against the Nuggets, who remain the class of the league. |

MJST wrote: | The problem with the Lakers today was after the first half they started playing as if LeBron was their first option on offense, instead of their second. We ran our offense through Davis in the first half and got to rolling. We cut the lead in the 2nd half and then started forcing things through LeBron and left AD out of the equation and by the time we decided to go back to him it was too late.
We can SAY it's AD's team all we want to, but till we start coaching like it, he'll have on fire halves and quarters and then not see the ball again for 2 quarters and we'll wonder, ''What happened?".
We run our offense through AD first and foremost, that's how we're going to win games, and we stop trying to force it to LeBron to finish runs when we should continue to go through our main guy.
We had the right idea in the first half, got away from it in the 2nd half and it cost us. |
Spot on.
Also, it was game 1 of a new season with new key parts going up against the defending champs, the core of which has been together for YEARS.
Can we please stop with the drauma-queeniness of over-reaction? Give these guys a friggin minute to learn each other better, especially on the defensive end.
It's really so out there how we react to 1 game, as though that one game reflects the entirety of all this team is and can be, unless the head coach is fired immediately, this player is benched, that guy sucks and is waived, these 3 guys are traded " ", etcetera.
Don't get me wrong. I always react ridiculously DURING the game just like many of you, but I also know it's irrational fandom and not something that should drive team changes. I also curse a lot. 😁
The point is that we had moments tonight of looking really darned good. This team is going to be excellent and deserves more than one game to figure it out before fans start screaming for key changes or that we otherwise trash any and everyone on the team from the coach on down the line.
Just my opinion. |

Gave up 2 30 point quarters and a 29 point quarter. Defense is not where it needs to be yet. Nuggets had 9 steals to only 5 for the Lakers. Denver had 6 blocks to only 4 for LA.
Only scored 30 or more points in one quarter. Other quarters were mid to low 20's. Got out shot in both 2 and 3 point land but did shoot and make more free throws than Denver.
The Good: Lebron 21 points, Prince 18 points on only 8 shots
The Bad: Reaves and DLo combined 8-23 from the floor with 5 turnovers
The Ugly: Rui 3-10 while 0-3 from 3 point land, Vincent 8 shots to score 6 points while 0-4 from 3 point land _________________ Fire Rob Pelinka! |

All of last season with Westbrick even when we started 2-10 we kept on saying we got 80 games to make this ship right. 60 games, 50, TradeDeadline!!!
40,30, playin
Western Conference Finals!
Long story short nice to have an actual solid roster to build off of from day 1.
No more Russ and Pat Bev vampires to mess with Darvin and his staff!
No distractions for sure big reason why I think Dwight and Boogie is blacklisted from the league. Nobody got time for that shhhhh |

They don't need Jordan's drive when their 28 year old center drops triple doubles in his sleep. Until Jokic declines the Nuggets won't be going anywhere. |

I think with teams with big front courts like Denver we need to explore more AD and Christian Wood/Jaxson Hayes lineups. Lebron and Rui as their 3.
Hopefully darvin will look at the tape and build from this. Thankfully no more three guards lineups with Lonnie playing small forward
With Taurean playing soo well I wonder how we utilize Vando when he comes back? |

One Jamal Murray injury and they are first round fodder like they were in 2022. If they lose injury threat Michael Porter Jr to injury, suddenly we are slightly better than them. |

Nikola continues looking like that dude at 24 Hour Fitness cooking everyone on the court while wearing Vans skating shoes.
His game will forever be a 30 point triple double in his sleep but as far as the rest of his team they looked human tonight.
Aaron Gordon didn’t get any better and his athleticism will only last for so long. MPJ is another Kuzma LOL
KCP is a stud so is Jamal but I think they arent gonna ever overtake Nikola and are easily matchable with our current roster’s offensive capabilities |

Defensive rebounding might be our biggest concern right now. There were stretches where our initial D was good, but we allowed 17 second-chance points.
When we got stops and defensive rebounds, we got out and ran well for two and a half quarters. If we consistently limit teams to one shot, we'll look a lot better than we did tonight because of our ability to play fast-break basketball. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

We played the defending world champs on their home floor, with essentially a gelling Laker team. Things (I hope) will work out. I guess. |

Just one game and they showed some flashes from guys like Prince.
Can't let it snowball into another bad start, if AD and LeBron are healthy (knock wood) we should beat most teams in the league. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

How many 2nd chance points did the Lakers end up with? It was 0 at half time. |

Fast-break/transition points are more important for us than second-chance points on offense. We're not built to bruise teams on the offensive boards. We need to get back, set up our D, dominate our defensive backboards and push the ball on every possession. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

I expect those guys to play better as the season goes... AD also had a below average game and will be better. |

All the players who got paid were playing tight.
This looked like game 5 of the WCF, if they played best of 9
Rui regressed to his form when we first saw him last season.
Reaves tried hard but was tight and missed some open shots and free throws.
DLo was slightly better than during the playoffs but had some sloppy turnovers that pissed me off.
AD... disappearing in the second half
LBJ... I want to see us use him like this. Very impressive considering his age.
Prince... continuing his good form from preseason.
Wood... decent
Reddish... showing potential... hopefully those who wrote him off were watching.
Gabe... looks like a downgrade from Dennis... wasn't bad but just looked nowhere near Dennis at his best
Hayes... didn't use him much.
I guess the good news is that we were in the game when half the team played like sh*t
On to the next one. |

Denver shot lights out tonight. Seems like it continued from WCF. We need Gabe/Rui scoring pinch off the bench.
Also DLO/Reaves combo need to put up 30-40ppg, specially if they going to play heavy minutes. They also need to reduce DLo to about 30mpg, and give those extra minutes to Rui. |

It was like DLo scored a little bit more than during the WCF and Reaves scored a little less.
Rui is such a streaky player... I feel like if he hits his first two shots he could easily go for 20, but if he misses the first two that he could play himself out of the game. He needs to get a little more mental toughness if he wants to get to the next level.
I can forgive DLo for missing some shots, but he gave away at least three
crucial turnovers that killed momentum. |
