Quote:
Charter Communications will officially take its regional sports network built around the Los Angeles Lakers over the top with the launch of Spectrum SportsNet+ on Sunday, when the Lakers visit the Sacramento Kings in a 9 p.m. ET NBA Western Conference early-season showdown.
The DTC service will be a 24/7 streaming version of the RSN, running those who don't subscribe to a pay TV service affiliated with SportsNet $19.99 a month, or $179.99 a season.
You can just get league pass if you live outside the Lakers "regional" area. That's cheaper than this.
I think the gap they're filling with this is NBALP doesn't allow you to access Laker games if you live in a market where your cable operator offers Spectrum. Now Spectrum is essentially competing with the cable operators they sell their channel to. Bold move. The smart thing is that as cable operators lose more customers from cord cutting, the league/teams can sell directly to their fans. _________________ Los Angeles Lakers Leadership: Jeanie Buss, Robert Pelinka, Kurt Rambis, LeBron James, Rich Paul.

That is true and I have that, but it cuts off after the game and I don't get the post game or the other cool stuff they play on spectrum _________________ Previously CamReddish
Spectrum charges me $55 plus $23 (broadcast surcharge) for basic cable. YouTubeTV is $73 for basic so it’s still too expensive to switch, but I do think the YouTube picture quality is much better, at least based on what I see on Sunday ticket

Good point. I wasn't really thinking of the wall-2-wall coverage. _________________ Los Angeles Lakers Leadership: Jeanie Buss, Robert Pelinka, Kurt Rambis, LeBron James, Rich Paul.
Pretty damn expensive, relative to other streaming services. I pay 15 a month to watch all teams. I wouldn't pay more than 8 bucks to watch one team. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.

I’ll just use Reddit streams for free. Thanks. _________________ Lakers Offseason Goal:

Yeah they just sent me a thing about this which I thought was interesting given I'm a spectrum cable customer. The Lakers is literally the only reason why I still have cable TV (the Lakers and the spectrum channel). So I have to read the fine print on what I get but if this really works out that might be the end of me paying for cable. Yay. _________________ #Welp

It's a lot cheaper if you use a VPN, set it for India and purchase the International NBA League Pass. It only costs $14 for the whole season and you'll get all NBA games, not just the Lakers. _________________ Don't make me give you a trout slap!

How long will the delay compared to television be? The thing that has always stopped me from being a cord cutter is the time delay on live sports and news. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

That's one way to do it, but I heard they started cracking down on it and banning common VPN IPs, so buyer beware. I went with amazon because the official league pass interface is such a (bleep) show. Wild how a different company does NBA games much better than the parent company, and there's almost no delay. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.

I wonder if it will let you watch games on demand like league pass.. Sometimes I can't watch the game live so I watch it at a later time.. Some article said it would be streaming Spectrum SportsNet 24 hours..

its like 45 second minimum, up to 90 seconds.
i no longer use a cable box, just the spectrum cable app. If its the end of a close game i have to put my phone on "do not disturb"" because my buddies with future will send me spoilers.
And during big games, like the playoffs, I can hear my neighbors hooting and hollering before the Lakers make a big play on my delayed stream.

Yeah, that’s a big deal to me. I wonder why they can’t get rid of the delay. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
Exactly! and there are other free streaming sites. I watch it on my Laptop or iPhone, but if if were not lazy I'm sure I could transfer it to my semi-big screen TV.

The pirate links are good if you watch alone, or watch on a phone, laptop. But if you have family, friends coming over, etc., it's pretty ghetto. LOL! Hold on, let me hook up my pc to the tv, hold on, let me kill these pop ups, hold on, hold on let me maximize the screen, hold on let me find my mouse toggle app, etc. LOL! I'm done with that life.
Right now, due to the unlimited DVR feature, nothing beats NBA league past on Youtube TV, provided you know how how to work around the black out. But this Spectrum deal is a step in the right direction. If we no longer want youtube tv one day, I would definitely subscribe to this. I mean this was the exact solution I was looking for several years ago when Frontier and Spectrum where fighting over fees. Decided to drop them both, went to youtube tv and never looked back.

I only ever watch non-national televised Lakers games alone. So this doesn’t bother me. _________________ Lakers Offseason Goal:
