Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Daniel Hudson announced his retirement just moments after the club won the World Series on Wednesday night.
Hudson is a veteran of 15 Major League seasons.

Unlike Soto’s answers huh?
Quote: | Soto was noncommittal about giving the Yankees a leg up on re-signing him. He's not closing any doors on them -- or any team in baseball.
Quote: | "I'm really happy with the city, with the team, but at the end of the day we will see," Soto said.
“We're going to look at every situation, every offer that we get. I don't know what teams want to come after me, but definitely I'll be open to listen to every single team. I don't have any doors closed or anything like that, so we're going to be available for all 30 teams." |

It definitely counts for something....a LOT even......its a guy willing to sacrifice his negotiating leverage to show how much he wants to be back. He could just as easily have said, I took a 1 year deal for this opportunity to bet on myself and I succeeded. We will see how free agency goes. Teoscar isnt stupid.....he knows what he is doing.....but to him money isnt everything. The experience, the people, the bonds....they are worth a lot to him. If the discount is enough to where we can sign another significant name rather than just 1 Soto, we should just bring him back |

But Free Agency is weird sometimes. Who could have predicted Pedro Martinez leaving Boston right after winning a ring there???? Or hell our hero, Freddie Freeman leaving the Braves after winning the 2021 ring. |

The Braves took a hard line with him. It's still shocking, and Matt Olson has done his alternating great year/off year thing with them over 2 seasons. They went with the younger player but cast aside the Hall of Famer. You can bet your ass that Freddie has had a chip on his shoulder since. |

I think a competitive offer gets it done with Teo. If he doesn't come back it's probably because we pivoted off of him. Hope he returns. _________________ KOBE |

Yeah, how much of it had to do with Olson being available on the market? |

A non-competitive offer might even get it done if it’s early enough.
What I mean is, let’s say they offer 3 for $70M right now. He takes it and won’t even shop himself around the league.
It they don’t and he goes shopping, he might end up with something like 5 for $125M. |

Hudson had a lot of great moments with us over the years. Glad he gets to go out on his own terms as a champion. |

Anthony Banda is now a celebrity. |
Its awesome how he went from being essentially being a AAAA player to being a lefty mainstay in our bullpen. Perfect secondary option too from Vesia as they offer completely different pitching styles. But great job from him....GREAT JOB. |

I've been on jury duty the past several days and in fact the courts are gonna be closed tomorrow and Monday because of the impending Dodgers parade which we now know it's gonna be tomorrow. But anyway it was super fun walking through Grand Park etc. to get to the courthouse today and being able to see them set up for the parade. I watched them set up the stage and a couple of other areas. Have fun and stay safe those of you who are going Downtown. (there were already 1 trillion police and traffic was already starting to get crazy at 10 AM this morning when I was walking across, just FYI) |

It's going to be insane. There's an event at Dodgers stadium in addition to the parade too. People have been bursting at the seams since 2020. _________________ KOBE |

You know whats insane as I watch this again? Watch Buehler after he strikes out Verdugo and then the mob comes to him....not even real joy in his eyes. More like an I expected this and F you expression. When you watched Hershiser in 88, it was more relief. When you watch Urias, its pure joy. This is who Buehler is.....the real bulldog. Almost anyone else would have had joy or relief. With Buehler its TRUE confidence and aggressiveness. This is our Madison Bumgarner. |

Buehler reminds me of Novak Djokovic in the biggest points/moments against Roger Federer.....and as Fed fan, I knew that meant Roger would be at a disadvantage because Roger was not mentally tougher than Novak and would almost if not always be the first one to make a mistake in the biggest points. Mentally I would put Kershaw as a Fed and Buehler as Novak. You saw the same defiance and "Im the (bleep)" attitude from Novak as well. |

Where and when I grew up, throwing your arms out like that basically meant you wanted to throw down. He was probably thinking "what now b----?"
I honestly think that was just a few years of frustration bottled up and the fact that it was Verdugo's (bleep)-talking ass was the feather in the cap. _________________ KOBE |

Yea it was just funny to me because there is no world in which Kershaw would have instinctively reacted like that in that moment. Or Kenley or Mariano.....or really anyone other than Bumgarner that I can think of. |

Freaking Shohei.....seems so humble and nice.....but dude deep down is a greedy competitive bastard hungry for more and more rings......got to love it. Dude is doing exactly what Kobe did. Win one and immediately move on to the next one. |

You guys saw it different than I did. He looked towards our dugout when he did that. So the impression I got was "see I told you I got this." |

Hell thats just as good.... you may be right and it still shows he didnt have an inkling of fear or doubt. With the way and manner he executed his pitches and his reaction afterwards.....dude is a real dog in every sense of the word. |

Yeah you want to see that. By far it's the best reaction after the final out I've seen from any team. |

As a curiosity from a casual fan...what are the chances (if any) Buehler would've been available for a potential game 7? At what point would you be better off going with a more well-rested arm or running another bullpen game?
Sounds like going with Buehler to close was a pretty significant gamble then. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit) |
