I’m amazed at how far Ohtani is hitting these home runs.

Baseball in 2024: remove the starting pitcher at 74 pitches after 5 shutout innings. Even though 3 of your top 4 relievers have pitched in 2 of the past 3 days and are unlikely unavailable tonight.

This lineup is absolute ass. Of course a bail out by Ohtani or we would be shut out. We have had nothing going in this game..it’s so fortunate that we are facing the Angels. We have won 5 in a row in extras.

And we're still going to lose. How would you like to be Anthony Banda? Dude comes in and retires all 4 men he faces, and he's going to take the loss.

When I first saw the names in the lineup my expectations were low. But the Angels don’t have good pitching so they should do better than this.

Pathetic. That's what you get when you have the game on the line and you have coming to the plate two guys with OPS's in the .500's. Vargas is beasting but of course, he has to get taken out earlier. I don't know, maybe just give him some runway and actually make him an everyday player with all these injuries? I'm so sick of Lux, I'm sick of Biggio, I'm just sick of the Dodgers practically insisting on having shi*ty hitters in their lineup every damn year. It really doesn't have to be that way. I'm not expecting All-Stars at every position. Is a .700 OPS too much to ask? Try Vargas. Try Lipcuis. It's like Friedman is unaware that the stars are great, but imagine how much better the whole operation would be if your worst players were still average. And in the games where your stars don't perform, we're at a handicap, hence why our record is what it is and why we have lost a lot of close games going back years.

End rant.

He can't f*cking hit sh*t. It's now fairly late into June and he has a .540 OPS. Meanwhile, we have a 26-year-old second baseman in AAA who has a .939 OPS with 17 homers, Andre Lipcius. Honestly, what the hell are we doing?!?!

Landon Knack has pitched 6ip only once this year.

All his starts have been 4-5ip.

Quote:
10 starts in the minors, 48ip
5 starts in the majors, 25.2ip

Yeah, that’s just how they’re going to handle Knack this yr. 5ip max no matter what.

74 pitches and you're done! Seems to really be working as far as young guys' arms getting preserved, both for the Dodgers and all across the industry! I know I sound like a bitter old man, but dadgummit, I'm right.

Yup. They’re really coddling the young prospects and it’s not helping to prevent injury in any way.

But, that’s the path they’ve decided to take so I think Knack’s going to continue to be a 5ip pitcher this year.

Was at this game due to scoring raffled off seats field level behind the dugout first base side so had a fantastic view of both the Ohtani moonshot and the so called "Smooth Operator"Yarborough's meltdown with THREE hit batsman in an inning of work. At least the post game drone show with the Beach Boys theme was dope.

You meant to tell me there’s no catchers in dodgers farm system who can hit above 200 in big league and play every 4 days? Barnes needs to go.

From what I recall, Kersh's fastball and slider look very much the same on release and until they approach the plate, and why he gets so many swings and misses off his slider. What I've begun to notice over recent years is that teams that see him more often, like the Padres, have become very disciplined and patient and tend to do better against him.

Yeah I've posted the gif here before but check this out:

https://twitter.com/PitchingNinja/status/1656379186452353025

The pitch looks EXACTLY the same until it's right in front of the plate.

His curveball has the same release point too fwiw.

Yeah this is also why he can’t master the changeup

He’s said this before. It’s not that he can’t throw the changeup, it’s that he can’t throw it at that same release point as his other 3 pitches.

No, we signed him to like a 2 yr extension back in 2022 and we don’t like to waste money so we keep him around until his contract expires (after this year).

We’re going to get some retread backup catcher next yr for $1M because we’re not going to bring up Dalton Rushing and waste one of his controllable years as a backup.

The backup next year could be Hunter Feduccia. Has an .899 OPS at AAA right now. That mark was .838 last year in 380 AB's in AAA as well.

THAT is the perfect reply. I can't imagine why I've missed that (or why I may have forgotten it) but that video is about a billion times better than my description.

I’d say only if they don’t believe in his potential as a starter and he doesn’t rise high in the prospect rankings.

If they see him as a career backup, then yeah, he’d be an option.

But, if he has potential to be a starter I think they’ll protect his controllable years and also keep him in AAA and let his prospect rankings rise.

I think they look better than the Angels uniforms. It never made sense to me when the Angels started wearing red. Are they the angels or the devils?

Seems like everyone hit the ball hard that inning. Did Lux actually hit a homer? I missed it.

Edit: Yes he did. And again guys are hitting the ball hard. So the Angels make a pitching change that I wish they wouldn’t make.
