It’s not even the distance that amazes me..it’s how on the money the homerun swings are. There are no doubters and then whatever Shohei is hitting out right now. It’s unbelievable. They legit look like AI homerun swings.

Even Nomar commented on the "sound" of Shohei's bat.

This is the first thing that struck me when I first witnessed Sho blasting bombs...it's the sound coming off the bat. It's just different. You could be minding your own business but just the sound alone will get your attention. Kind of like when Newman first heard Cruise break the balls in The Color of Money. He heard something special.

If you take out the 2-3 weeks where it looked like Shohei was bothered by that hamstring injury (but kept playing), he's been an absolute monster at the plate.

Lux hit 3 balls hard, including a homer. I'm shocked!

Feduccia, to address that point from earlier, is already 27 years old. I don't think they see him as a future starter; at least, not on this team. Go ahead and start that service time clock next year, if necessary. Rushing, on the other hand, obviously has a ton of trade value as our top prospect, and he's 23. That's a guy you don't want to waste service time on if he's just going to be the backup for all of his arb years, yes. It really does make sense that we use Rushing now in a trade, at the height of his value, the younger he is and before his service time clock starts at all.

That one yesterday was incredible, that was way up in the seats in deep right center, absolutely mashed.

He is an amazing player, sensational.

I've watched it a couple of times & I still couldn't pick up the ball & determine where it landed.

And we’re only seeing half of him this season.

The fact that he’s a stud pitcher is really unbelievable.

I laugh when people who aren’t really baseball fans/followers scoff at his contract saying how ridiculous it is. He’s worth every penny.

Angels should be kick out of the league for wasting away two HOF players' prime. it's so sad to think Otani is already 30 years old, how long will he start to decline.

If they didn’t, he wouldn’t be a Dodger today.

Jackson Ferris, the dude we picked up in the Michael Busch trade, starting to pick it up:

Quote:
Jackson Ferris struck out eight in a career-high six innings scoreless in the second game of Great Lakes’ doubleheader on Sunday, continuing his solid run this month.

Two of Ferris’ last three starts are scoreless, and he struck out at least eight in three of his last four games.

….

The 20-year-old Ferris, who was acquired along with Rancho Cucamonga outfielder Zyhir Hope from the Cubs in January for Michael Busch and Yency Almonte, has progressed nicely deeper into the season, including a 2.11 ERA in four June starts.

Quote:

MLB Pipeline
@MLBPipeline

Jackson Ferris (@Dodgers) -- with 8 punchouts today -- has 32 K's over his past 21 1/3 IP for the High-A @greatlakesloons.

MLB's No. 7 LHP prospect tossed a career-high 6 scoreless frames, scattering two hits and walk.

He could reach top 100 status soon. Maybe by the end of the yr or the beginning of next year?

He started off really slow but his stats look decent now:

Quote:
4.24 ERA
63.2ip
81 K
1.32 Whip

Those K numbers are sexy as hell. And remember, kid is lefthanded.

The Whip is good too. Means he’s finding his location and not giving up a bunch of hits/baserunners.

Quote:
MLB.com scouting grades:

Fastball: 60
Curveball: 55
Changeup: 55
Control: 45
Overall: 50.

Quote:
“He physically resembles Blake Snell at the same age but with superior stuff and mechanics.”

“When he keeps his mechanics in sync, Ferris displays three plus pitches that can miss bats in the strike zone, the best of which is a 92-95 mph fastball that touches 97 and arrives on a flat approach angle with excellent carry.

His best secondary offering is a 75-78 mph curveball that features high spin rates and can be a hammer with 12-6 break at its best.

He also shows advanced feel for a mid-80s changeup with fade that should become more consistent as he uses it more often as a pro.”

Hopefully, he can learn the slider and be our next Kershaw.

Looks like maybe he did add a sweeping slider to his arsenal and that’s why he’s taken off lately:

Dodgers Daily
@dodger_daily

The Sweeping Slider of Jackson Ferris was Bigtime!
6IP 2H 0R 8K 1BB

Longest outing of the year for Ferris, who has now gone at least 5 innings in 6 outings in a row. Ran into trouble in the 6th of his last start, cruised through the 6th today. #dodgers

I really think that was a fair trade. Hopefully we end up winning it. Busch has hit pretty well this year overall, with only a weak May dragging his still-solid numbers down a bit. Also, Pepiot has a 4.61 ERA (4.22 FIP is slightly better) and DeLuca has been terrible (.157 average in 115 AB's with a -0.4 WAR).

Speaking of Kershaw, he has been shut down from throwing for a week, although he had an MRI that didn't show any new problems.

Was never a White Sox fan but growing up I used to love their caps. It was my second favorite design. First was the Raiders cap.

Should have let him leave and rehab for Texas.

Now we need a #4 or #5 starting pitcher as well as a SS.

Playoff roster you mean?

Or our rotation going forward?

I would say going forward. I was referring to the post that we needed a new 4-5 starter. Which one do you replace? At this point Miller is the weak link.
