Yes, and sorry to get a bit political here, but I expect the Freeman's to have sufficient heath coverage to avoid the many zero's of potential cost. When people experience such tragedy, they don't need another to add to it. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

What a shame. |
He also took more than 2 months to rehab from something that should have normally taken just a few weeks. Guy's health has completely betrayed him. |
Dude always reminded me of Micky Mantle with his popularity, accomplishments at the plate hitting for both average and power (they are literally right next to each other in lifetime OPS+, ranking 8th and 9th), their speed, and their great play in center field, but I guess we could add health to this comparison as well. Don't know about Trout's drinking habits so I'll leave that one alone. |
Another fun fact on Mantle: Dude easily could have been a Brooklyn Dodger. Biggest reason we didnt was because Branch Rickey made his biggest blunder and let the greatest scout of all time Tom Greenwade, leave the organization that had signed for the Dodgers: HOFs Jackie Robinson, Gil Hodges and George Kell. Imagine an oufield of Snider, Furillo and Mantle. Along with the infield of Hodges at first, Robinson at third, Reese at shortstop and Gilliam at second with Campanella behind the plate. Thats literally an all star team and the 1953 Dodgers is already one of the greatest hitting lineups of all time and every single position player would have a good to career year in 1953. |

Both of them just bad luck at this point, past postseason failures all starts and ends with these two. I really think it’s a mental thing. Is in the clubhouse. Whenever dodgers play against a team who had eliminated them in the postseason, they struggle and play scared. |
They would still have 2 rings if the Astros didn’t know what pitches were coming in game 5 of the World Series. It’s one thing that bothers me about that series. Kershaw dominated the Astros on the biggest stage in games 1 and 7. Would have won game 5 if the Astros weren’t cheating and maybe would have even been the World Series MVP.
In game 1 he beat the Astros ace and pitched 7 innings, gave up 1 run , had 11 k’s and no walks.
When the Astros destroyed him in game 5, he didn’t know he was being cheated and that would definitely destroy a lot of people mentally, making them think maybe they really are a choker. It’s a type of game that can affect people for decades. |
All true Steve-O but lets keep in mind, Kershaw was warned BEFORE that game about the BS the Astros were up to. We know this because Kershaw confirmed he didnt want to break his rhythm (like a moron) and we also know this because Alex Wood dominated the Astros in Game 4 while always changing signs because he was rightfully paranoid of the Astros nonsense. Kershaw had a lot to do with his own demise by sticking to his routine. |
Can’t disagree with you there. Wood was paranoid but pitchers should be paranoid about that stuff because (even if they don’t do it the way the Astros did it) teams try to steal signs.
Hard to know how it would affect him but imagine if Kershaw pitched well and won game 5. Maybe in future postseason outings he believes in himself more and that belief has a positive effect on his performance.
One of the worst case scenarios is Kershaw wins game 5 (if the Astros didn’t cheat), and Kershaw still has his “chokes” and takes criticism in future postseason outings when he comes up short. But even in that scenario, he still has 2 rings instead of 1 and has more good postseason moments in his career.
I always thought that game 5 start was his biggest choke ever (until I realized Houston cheated) because the stage was so big, a loss in that game cost the team a ring and the Dodger offense gave him more support in that game than he ever had (can’t remember the offense scoring more runs for him in the playoffs, maybe they did before but if it happened it’s very rare).

Ohtani could've been wasting the rest of his career in Anaheim had he decided to stay an Angel. Its a good thing he decided to move on. Angels gotta figure out how to rebuild. |
I saw Angel fans complaining that the team doesn’t seem to be trying to rebuild so it looks like they are going nowhere. |

Fearless spin, this year they win less games...maybe even blow the division but get hot late as the team gets healthy and runs the table to bring home the World Series.

Buehler had another horrible start in AAA tonight. Didn't make it out of the 4th inning, throwing 86 pitches to get 10 outs. Allowed 7 hits and 3 walks, so he got 10 outs and allowed 10 baserunners. Allowed 4 ER. Did strike out 6, but this isn't just about getting his work in, as he's not injured. This is about trying to get some results. He is just out in the wilderness, it appears. |

Yup, I always said it was a waste of $16.5M or whatever they gave him.
Quote: | Syndergaard - $13M
Paxton - $11-12M
Buehler - $16.5M
Total - $40-41.5M |
Investing in injured pitchers is biting us in the butt so far.
Kershaw is another injured pitcher who’s not working so far. I always had fear that a shoulder surgery might alter his mechanics. I wonder if this is an issue more than rust?
If it’s just rust that Kershaw is dealing with, then that’s fixable.
If his mechanics are now whacky, that’s going to take alot more time to fix, if ever. |

Gavin Lux's strikeout rate has jumped from 20% in the first half to 29% in the second half, and he is a WAY better hitter |
Looks like he was being too picky/too passive. This is the same problem Max Muncy has. Just takes too many pitches and falls behind the count.
There's gotta be a balance between being patient vs. being overly passive. |

Since 2021, Anthony Volpe, Yankees SS, has played in more games than Mike Trout.
Volpe debuted in 2023. |

Yeah not going out on a limb here obviously but him and Walker are done done this year. Walker will now have to bounce around the league until he figures his out. His Dodger tenure is over. Sad ending but I’ll never forget Buetane and his prime with us.
New series, new vibes, new month. Let’s start with a win. |

Snell with a no hitter. Guy is the strangest pitcher ever. Always total garbage before July and then he transforms into Cy Young. |

And the A's are up 4-2 on us now and Stone has been KO'd from the game, of course not getting through 5 so guess what, it's another big bullpen game to start off a weekend series! Oh joy. |
