we are really missing DS, his presence allows DLo and AR to play off the ball sometimes and be more effective. we miss a guy that can get to the basket and create his own shots. obviously Gabe is out now, so we have no idea what he can or can't do.

The Lakers would never strategize like this, but I'd rather they play full strength against the weaker team to at least go 1-1 rather than play at full strength against the stronger team and risk going 0-2.
I feel like the Lakers have gone 0-2 a lot when they've managed their injuries like that. This team is just not trustworthy enough to win ANY games at less than full strength. It doesn't matter what team they've going up against.
That Portland game didn't make me any more confident in them.

It will be another tough game regardless of their record. They'll have extra motivation for this one after the Game 6 beatdown that ended their season.

In a word…Attention…the end goal is to increase popularity with more attention that they hope the in season tournament creates.
College football is getting into a popular time in Nov with selection committee rankings for CFP, rivalry week, conference championship appearances to be decided and played, and bowl eligibility/selection. The second half of the NFL season is also in effect with enough games having been played to get a feel for who the teams are that can potentially compete for the Superbowl. With all that happening, the NBA wants to increase the popularity of the games in November and concocted the in-season tournament to drum up fan interest to compete for viewers/attendance during this time.
It could work with a few tweaks I think, as is now it’s an afterthought, or non-issue for me, as if for now at least, that it doesn’t even exist. I’m not googling which teams are in groups A,B,C or group standings or concerning myself with who beat who last Fri/Tues with other games throughout the week that count as reg season games but don’t count for the IST. If they made the groups the divisions, put an extra column on the reg season standings for the IST, and scheduled all division games during this time so that all games count for the IST then it would have a chance to capture my interest. Maybe the yellow court will work to our advantage and have traditionally solid 3 point shooters get back to their career averages as opposed to the 20% brickfest shooting as soon as they put a Laker jersey on…traditional court isn’t working so maybe the color rush court will fix the shooting lol.

This should be a win. The Grizzlies are 2-8. They're missing Ja. He's due to return on Dec 12th. I hope he's learned a lesson. You have to leave street life behind. I think this is a tournament game.
