The Lakers will finish ahead of the Suns for at least 8th in the standings if the season goes as projected below with both teams winning against teams ahead of them and losing to teams below them except for the Lakers upsetting the Pels in the last game of the season.

The Lakers are +1 game ahead of the projected pace needed to finish ahead of Phoenix for 8th in the standings. _________________ “When it looks as if it is a realistic possibility, I want to focus on winning a ship like it’s a goal that can’t be denied. I didn’t see that this off season.”
If each team (LAL/Pho/Sac) loses to the teams currently ahead of them in the standings and wins against the teams currently below them, allowing exceptions with a spit for the Suns against the teams they play twice (NOP/LAC/Min), the projections below would give the Lakers the 7th position in the standings, provided the Lakers upset the Pels. This happens even with the Kings upset win of the Clips.

Watch Immanuel Quickley comes back vs Lakers on Tuesday after missing 6 straight games due to personal and then returning to competitive conditioning.
Quote:
Quickley will miss his sixth straight contest Sunday while returning to competitive conditioning. Javon Freeman-Liberty will likely continue to start in his absence. Quickley's next chance to suit up is Tuesday's matchup with the Lakers.
Late season games against strong teams are also winnable as teams will start resting key players. Its not very likely that Kings or Suns will drop below Lakers. Its hard to avoid the 9-10 elimination game now.
If we win on Sunday, we finish eighth. Let's do this!
We have a puncher's chance at going all the way! _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".
So if the Lakers beat the Pelicans, do they just stay in New Orleans and not have to travel for the Playin? That also would be a win, but hard to win 2 in a row on the road….

That's only if PHX beats MIN (PHX got tiebreaker over NO). if both NO/PHX lose, we go to PHX...dangerous. lol

You want to win on Sunday... It at least gives you 2 games to get in.

That’s nuts how all three games went our way today despite being close— our own, New Orleans vs Golden State, and Phoenix vs Sacramento. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

Even after AD’s injury the Lakers somehow moved up to 8th seed with a loss in hand against the Kings and Warriors. Kings 3-7 of their last 10. After months of trying to move up they finally did it.
Now correct me if I’m wrong, they can earn a spot in the playoffs with two wins out of the next three. Or, with two losses in the next three the season will be over. Come on team, lock in!
(8) Lakers at (7) Suns (winner gets #7 seed)
If Lakers lose, they would play (GS/Sac) winner at home for #8 seed.
If Lakers lose @ Pelicans, it will be:
(10) Lakers at (9) Warriors
(8) Kings at (7) Suns
This assumes Kings beat Blazers, Suns lose at Wolves, and Warriors beat Jazz.
So huge game at Pelicans. It’s the difference between having to win 2 road playoff games just to make the 8th seed. Phx has the tiebreak over the Pelicans, so I don’t see the Pelicans resting guys bc there’s still a chance Phx could upset the Wolves and steal the #6

Yeah that’s a good way too look at it.
Lakers must win 2 of their next 3 games, and at least 2 will be road games vs playoff teams. Lakers are only 4-10 this year on the road vs Western Conf playoff teams.
Pelicans are a very weird team. They can play well and beat anyone. And have shown it. But they also have a lot of bad losses. On paper at home they should be able to win a must win game like that, but I’ve seen them lose quite a few head scratchers.
Also no matter what, we’re going to be on the road at least 4 straight games. Pelicans, the play in, then 2 straight roads to start a playoff series. It’s really go time !

Ok, let’s beat the pels then beat them again/suns. Grab the 7th seed and bring on Mike ‘I’m hood’ Malone _________________ “The main goal for the Lakers is to win a championship. All I care about, all we care about, is to raise another banner in the rafters.“
