I don’t know who in their right mind would want this job.

Someone like Ham who is desperate to get into the head coaching ranks. Despite having to put up with the Lebron show and being a lower paid head coach.

Woj on SportsCenter says Lue is not a realistic target for us.

was thinking the same thing

Sure, if someone could have their choice of a job, say someone like Pop or Spo. But if someone wanted a job and was currently sitting at home, maybe they might have a different opinion on it.

Hire a real basketball coach. Not a LeBron/Klutch caddie. No JJ Reddick or Tyronn Lue.

Lue is definitely going to come . He is going to turn his back on the richest owner in the league who wants to give him a long term contract. He is not interested in the new arena. He has no hard feelings against the Lakers. He will be pounding on tight azzss Jeannie's door begging her to coach us. It is beyond ridiculous to even mention his name.

Who wouldn’t want a job where you’re given a flawed roster and it’s immediately leaked to the press that you’re the problem the minute things go south? Surely all the best candidates will be lining up to interview for this job, with the people who hired the apparently bad coaches making the selection.

Guaranteed the Lakers are praying Doc Rivers gets fired. That has to be the only idea they have. Atkinson i think is overrated but he’s not dumb enough to take this job. Reddick can’t burn his first coaching gig on a win-now team. Clippers are too smart to get Lue go. Budenholzer is the only possible hire with any intelligence to it and he’s at the point where he’ll be happy to get paid.

Atkinson would. He's not turning down a life changing pay raise. He'll come out the other end a lot worse for wear but a whole lot richer.

The Lakers are one of the cheapest spenders in the league when it comes to coach hirings. We lost out on Lue bc we didn’t want to guarantee him a 4th year. We hired Vogel bc he agreed to less guaranteed money. Ham was probably one of the lowest if not Lowest paid coach in the NBA. They’re gonna break the bank for Atkinson? Atkinson gets interviews every year and he already got burned once by a win-now organization where the stars had too much power (Nets). I don’t even know why the Lakers would want him other than the illusion he’s in demand. He’s a development guy that advanced too far imo. You don’t want him as a head coach for probably the same reason we don’t want Handey as an HC.

Why wouldn't we just pay Mike Budenholzer instead of having a long drawn out process?

Since everybody’s beefing these days (Ham pun intended), why not Woj/ESPN vs Shams/Athletic entering the chat haha

Quote:
If Tyronn Lue becomes available, the Lakers would have strong interest. The 47-year-old, who has one year left on his contract with the Clippers, won a championship coaching James with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. He’s also lost in the NBA Finals twice and made the Western Conference finals with the LA Clippers in 2021. He’s a former Laker, having won two championships as a player in 2000 and 2001. His teams have ranked in the top five in offensive rating in five of his seven full seasons.

Lue was the Lakers’ top option during their 2019 coaching search, which ultimately landed them Frank Vogel. Lue told ESPN he Lakers offered him a pay decrease and wanted to determine his coaching staff, which made him feel underappreciated. It’s unclear how or if that history might factor into his interest. He’ll certainly have support from James, who has made it known he still thinks highly of Lue’s coaching.

The Lakers will canvass the market for more coaching prospects — they are expected to have interest in over an half-dozen coaches candidates — and begin their interviews in the coming days. – via The Athletic

This team, with the same inept front office, is just going to hire someone equally as bad or worse. Nobody worth a damn is going to want to come here for (bleep) pay and put up with asinine expectations from all sides.

He may be hoping to get fired. The Clippers are the oldest team in the NBA and Kawhi's health is a major concern.

When you have LeBron in your Team does not matter who is the coach. He will be the coach no matter what. Only Spoelstra was able to actually implement his coaching because he had Riley having his back.

Now the out of the box hire the lakers are too dumb to do would be Nuggets assistant David Adelman. Why not steal from the team that has your number, and might provide extra insight on how to beat them? OTOH he would be smart to not take this job.

I was serious in the other thread about paying Handy to "head coach" to keep his services and let LBJ run the team sink or swim.

I was just coming to post about this. Who is - I mean I know where he's from I can read - but who is this person? We desperately need stability...I hope we do not go off in Randoville. I don't think that'll be the answer.
