We need to run second side ball-screens for him when he receives the skip pass. Get him into the midrange or going downhill and drawing fouls. He has to get better at finishing too, in that he can't always be going for a telegraphed dunk.

On perimeter defense, he needs to play like Cam Reddish does: gamble. It's counterintuitive, but he's totally useless right now. If he can use his front-to-back speed to jump passing lanes and get out into transition, it covers up for some of his issues laterally while also leveraging his athleticism for easy layups and dunks that boost his confidence.

I also want to see him rotate and use his verticality more in the paint. He's seemingly getting more jacked every day. He's got a real weight advantage over a lot of guards trying to finish, but if they attack him from the perimeter he's going to get crossed over or give up a foul.

the way Knecht was looking with his confidence coming back up, JJ should have kept him in.

GG DK4. I liked his defense on Brown at one point.

A contributing DK4 from the bench is great for the team.

5/9 & 3/7 3ptrs against GSW
5/7 & 3/4 against the Celts

maybe he's turned the corner scoring wise

only 1 rebound in 23m vs GSW though, which ain't gonna cut it long term
and not very good D

You hating too hard man… Rui played last game when Knecht scored well too.

Rui has no connection with how well Knecht plays.

Another good outing from DK.

I think rookies tend to turn it around post ASB.

like always...His defense is BAD..But he's too good of an offensive player to be putting up so many stinkers.

This is more line with who people think DK is.

We could seriously have some good firepower off the bench if DK turns it around.

Very solid back to back games. You can see his confidence growing with his shot slowly coming back. Keep it up!

I dont think he's not bad of a defender, he had some good defensive stops, but yeah not good either, maybe below average defender.

Rui and Knecht shouldn't share the floor together, that's for sure.

Let me put it this way.

Dalton shot poorly for two months straight and his 3 point average is still as good as Devin Booker has shot for his entire career.

Or what Trae Young has shot for his entire career.

If you can't see he's an exceptional shooter, then I don't think you've been watching basketball your whole life.

I like Dalton's game a lot, he is much further ahead than where Reaves was as a Rookie, given time he will get even better, when "on", his 3's are deadly!

I would ONLY include him in a trade if it means keeping Reeves and gets us a great player back (for more than a one-year timeframe)..

Like seeing Dalton getting more mins and more touches. I can see his confidence is coming back. Some people here that have been hard on the guy must forget he's a rookie and teams have adjusted to him. He's a damn good shooter, people!!!

I dont think were that hard on him… I think the expectation has gone down by a lot those compare to two months ago. Went from should be starting to he’s just a rookie.

One thing right now he is the worse defender in the rotation. He needs to make shots to over come that. JJ bases his minutes on how well he’s shooting that night.

Not a fan of the AR/Gabe/Knecht trio tho.

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/most-points-in-one-game-for-rookie-2025
Quote:
Dalton Knecht has dropped the most points by a rookie in a game this season, with 37 points against the Jazz on November 19

Dalton Knecht of the Los Angeles Lakers tied the NBA rookie record for most three-pointers in a game with nine on November 19, 2024. Knecht's performance came in a 124–118 win over the Utah Jazz.
Explanation
Knecht's nine 3-pointers tied the record, which had only been achieved three times before.
Knecht's performance was especially impressive because he scored 22 consecutive points over a five-minute span.
Knecht's nine 3-pointers were the second-most in Lakers history, just behind Kobe Bryant's 12.
Knecht's performance set the Lakers' rookie record for most three-pointers in a game.

Opponents barely know he has the ball before it's released his fingertips
Super rare to see someone shoot as quickly as he does.

Crucial threes against the Warriors. He stemmed the tide for us. He has already shown crazy potential. You don't just hit 9 threes in a NBA game if you have that real shooting touch. It would have to be for an equally young prospect. I'm not trading him for that "vet who can help now" crap.

Why doesn’t he get more shots / minutes?

He is a great shooter, are teams keying on him or are we not creating plays for him?
