We're done this season. I thought we could beat the Wolves. Who messed up the most?

I'm just gonna say it, I'm as guilty as anyone at looking at the scapegoat and making a big deal about them. Russ, Vogel, Ham, Magic, ect... AR had a horrible series and tanked his value but I'm not throwing away what he did during the year. The JJ we saw during this series was IMO an immature coach that has things to learn, not a bad coach that got in and got exposed. I don't know that I put any special hope into someone that took it from me..

We were just an incomplete team lacking a big(and big depth) and maybe another 2 way player you can get enough of. Compound that with a bad matchup but losing to Denver a few years ago in the WCF or the 1st rd doesn't change the outcome of the "letdown" we just weren't happy with it. No reason to channel that into one person but also honestly nobody stuck out. It's kinda like when we first got Shaq in a way, we just didn't have enough. It's not like someone represented a cancer that needed cut out before we could improve. I think if you make the right move for a big and 2 way that nobody specific needs deported just make the best move. I can't say "AR goes or we're pretenders" or "keep Rui at all costs". Whatever the best move is.. and I trust the FO with it.

For me it is a team wide culture issue. Lack of consistent intensity and playing with any type of urgency as a team. No team wide system that even the bench players can run efficiently. Too many losses to bad teams each season.

Not sure of the overall issue of “why”?

Team shows some brief moments, a half here and there before blowing leads, the run to the in-season cup win last season, the 10 games in Feb where they were a league leading defense. All examples of what could be. But they never sustain it.

Coaches and roster has been revamped multiple times. It is an organizational attitude issue. Look at the teams in the playoffs playing with “ a chip on their shoulders” and earning wins. When was the last time you thought the Lakers played that way?

Not disappointed in the individuals, but I am with the outcomes.

game 1 doomed us. but Luka needs a full rebuild around him- Ant has a great support around him. once they replace connely they are going to be nuts.

Cant protect Luka defensively when you are inept as a team.

Reaves may have to go if he nets us a better piece.

JJ was fine- he got exposed, but hes a smart guy.

Reaves.....the lack of playmaking against an elite defense would have spelled disaster at some point - so in that sense better to get it over with quickly. He needed to provide consistent shot creation as the "speed" guy similar to Kyrie adjacent to Luka, but could not do it. You dont trade him for just anything (in fact you dont deal him for most players) but for the right star as part of a package, he can go.

Surprised Lebron gets so much here. He's 40 years old. What are the expectations?

Luka disappointed me the most.

Inability to beat defenders off the dribble is troubling. Naz Reid and Gobert being able to switch on to him without a double is a problem.

Not sure if his body can gain more quickness and burst but he will be limited if can not.

How? Dude has barely had any time to gel and needs an off season to get right. Even with all that there were games it felt like he was our only threat on offense.

the only answer is Reaves.

Luka is about to command a Max deal. His inability to command a double team on offense vs. Centers is concerning moving forward. He also had trouble getting off step back 3's. On one play Naz Reid blocking his attempt.

His game is predicated on iso face up. If he can't blow by slower defenders on switches moving forward his value greatly diminishes.

we all know his defense leaves a lot to be desired.

I hope he realizes he needs to spend a lot of time on conditioning and athleticism.

I am willing to give him some benefit of the doubt. Short season due to injury, new team etc.

Which im sure he will. This version is not the Luka from Dallas. Full offseason of work. If he still looks the same criticisms are warranted.

This roster has major flaws… JJ didn't do himself any favors and I'm sure he's been kicking himself for a few days now on how he handled game 4 but again, this roster has major holes.

1) Luka/AR/LeBron/Rui all in the starting 5 is a defensive nightmare. In the regular season, it worked beautifully as teams are playing at about half of their defensive and physical capabilities. I don't see how you can start all four of those guys together and not expect the opposing teams to just abuse you.

2) size! Having only one center on this roster is just not gonna get it done especially when that center is at best a energy back up type of guy… And quite frankly a little boneheaded.

3) The bench consistency was terrible. No scoring off the bench… or at least Dalton didn't get any minutes. Vando gives you no offense att all - in fact, he's a liability on that end, and Gabe is somewhere between terrible and decent just depends on the night. DFS should've been starting.

4) Health- obviously Luka isn't at 100% and LeBron, no matter how he tries to play with energy can't be the guy that brings the intensity - which he is as of now. Hopefully LeBron can rest and Luca can get healthy and in shape this off-season.

Lets say worst case scenario, he never gets the burst back. You did see him punk the OKC smaller defenders (take your pick any of them) and had no trouble scoring on Derrick White and has adapted to Jrue Holiday's defense (even though we did not see Jrue in the last matchup, we have seen this play out over the years) to the point it doesnt give him nearly the trouble it used to. But we did see Uncle Al give him a lot of trouble. But he did cook both Hartenstein and Holmgren. I think we need to accept the fact that Luka may not punk all bigs but he can still matchup hunt almost if not all smalls.

Nailed it. Sort of reminds me of the Rams prior to McVay. It was just a bunch of guys doing a job... No sense of direction and definitely not a TEAM that played for a purpose.

The Lakers SAY they only play for championships. But they don't mean it.
The main focus is ENTERTAINMENT and fanfare and making headlines.

The biggest cheers this year were for Bronny when he would enter a game in garbage time.
It's a joke. I'm sure Jeannie and the rest of the org can't wait for the LeBron retiremenr tour. All the fanfare and buzz surrounding every game that year will surely distract from the fact that the team ain't winning sh1t, yet again.

That #1 needs to be broken up to address #2 but we need to be careful here so as not to lower our floor.

Dave McMenimum said our starters played a total of 100 minutes together this year- Wolves played 700+- JJ will get better.

Doesn't get his burst back at 26? I'd be very worried.

^^^ I mean look at even Kobe Bean over the years. Even for Kobe, the burst and explosiveness at 18-22 was different from even his peak years of 2006-2008. Its possible he never gets it back.

The bench was pretty bad, yo. Lets not forget how much we're being outscored in every game, while also not being much better defensively.

Also thought Jax wasn't able to contribute much and was picked apart on switches.

AR let us down a bit with his creation, and his inability to get to the free throw line. They were really physical with him and it paid off dividends because he couldn't even dribble towards the end there.

A lot of disappointment to go around, but at the end of the day I didn't really think we had enough to go all the way. Having said that, I feel we're only 1 or 2 players away.
