He's improved so much. He's going to be a rotational piece for the Lakers, maybe next year. _________________ "The game is MORE than just one player. Without Luka, DFS would have been more than enough to replace him based on what we've seen," LakersFever714, the greatest casual of all time.
I may be tripping but is Bronny comparable to Jordon farmar lol
Farmar was a 37.4% three-point shooter. If Bronny can get to that level consistently and maintain his athleticism, he'll have a long career. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".
Bronny is built like Donovan Mitchell _________________ “The main goal for the Lakers is to win a championship. All I care about, all we care about, is to raise another banner in the rafters.“

AND the G-League
55th pick which many "experts" here whined about. All the great players we could have had at 55. LOL! He's outperforming higher picks and even g-league veterans. He's progressing great for the Lakers. It was a good investment after all. _________________ "The game is MORE than just one player. The best 55th pick in NBA history list include:
Patty Mills, Marc Iavaroni, Mark Blount, Kenny Gattison and E'Twaun Moore.
Maybe one day Bronny will be on the top of that list.

Think the issue for some (rightfully) is the contract situation. As we're seeing right now we have a legit chance to make a playoff run with Lebron/Luka. We even were looking like a team that was going to make a run with Lebron/AD.
When you're in a situation like that, roster spots become important.
Bronny's level warrants a 2-way. When he's NBA ready, he can be converted into a guaranteed deal.
Because of Lebron, it had to be a guaranateed deal. Thus taking a roster spot. Right now the Lakers have a lot of injuries - they are going to face a decision. Who to cut? Between Goodwin, Len, Cam.
Basically they're going to cut a player who is capable to give them minutes in the NBA to mantain Bronny's contract with the team. Teams have had a 55th/2nd round pick and stashed them overseas or on a 2-way. The thing that hurt us a bit was the guaranteed deal. Bronny is getting lottery talent treatment. When his upside is basically a backup guard in the NBA. No one really invests in a situation like that more than a 2-way deal (when you're a legit contender like us in win now mode).
Now how much has it hurt? Really we're talking not much here. Then when you consider signing Bronny to this deal got you Lebron to stay and Lebron to play even better than he has the last 2 years, it's been an overall "win" move by the Lakers. By doing this they got the best version of Lebron they possibly could get.

As Bronny has developed the salary/roster spot argument gets even weaker IMO. Bronny is making the league minimum salary of ~$1.16M, which is significantly less than the veteran minimum salary. For reference that is $20,000 less than what Alex Len is making to be on the roster for the final ~30 games of the season. But the relevant number for vet min contracts is really ~$2.1M since that is the cap hit for those contracts if the vet has 3 or more years of experience (i.e. even if it is a 10+ year vet making $3.3M, the cap hit is less to not deter teams from signing older guys). So this year Bronny is making roughly half of what another NBA vet min would be making. That is relevant where the team is operating in the hundreds of thousands of dollars below the second apron (less when the season started). Acknowledging that roster decisions flow into other decisions, swapping Bronny for a vet min Day 1 of the season would have us over the second apron.
I also don't think it is unreasonable for a contending team to hold a guaranteed contract development spot at the end of the roster. Seems like the bigger issue is Morris, Reddish and Len as 3 vets we'd rather play G-League guys over. To be fair we needed to take Morris to do the Luka trade and we did try to dump Cam in Charlotte, but those 3 are burning a much bigger hole than Bronny IMO. For the entire guaranteed term of Bronny's contract his cap hit will be lower than any other vet with 3+ years of experience. Again, these are relevant numbers when you're operating right up to the second apron. If Bronny can even give you a few deep bench Shake Milton minutes in 26-27 (the season after next) when he's making ~$150,000 less than what Cam Reddish is making today, you won on the contract, even if he's not playing at all next year IMO. Seems like he is definitely on trajectory to play some minutes in year 3 and, if he isn't, year 4 is non-guaranteed.

With everyone out tonight Bronny should get some nice minutes

Throughout Bronny James’ brief pro career, his father had always said that Bronny tunes out or doesn’t hear the critics.
But he told

not only does he hear the criticism, he uses it to his advantage.

Showed a variety of ways to score, and made some nice passes. Showed some handles. Really like his development from where he was at the start of the season. Hope he continues to develop along this trajectory.
