Don't react too loudly, you might wake up Rob Pelinka.

The Warriors have replaced the void left by Clay Thomson's departure by acquiring three-point specialist Buddy Hield for a distant, second round draft pick in 2031. No word if Golden State was also required to include a bag of chips.

*MODS - you can remove this post. Meant to be in Free Agent thread.

There is a free agent thread, dude. No need for a new one.
Especially for Buddy who sucks.

Much of the fascination was because he was attached to Myles Turner.

If you don't think Hield is worth a 2nd round pick, you are just an irrational hater.

Nonsense, Trying doesn't mean giving Buddy $21 M guaranteed... with 5 pts/game and a defensive rating that's worse than even D'LO, who everyone likes to take potshots at.

The Dubs are seriously in deep doodoo

Hield chose GSW over the Lakers. Makes sense from his perspective because on GSW he will be get a well-defined (Klay) role and minutes. On the Lakers he'd have had to compete against several others (DLo/Vincent/AR/Christie)
Exceptionalism has it's limits.

Hield chose GSW because they were offering the most $$$.

Don't overcomplicate things.

So .. you're saying the Lakers went to Hield in free-agency and asked him to come for a vet-min? They didn't try to convince Lebron to extend a mere PART of his MLE-discount to Hield who's going to be making only $9m/year - wey less than max MLE? Nor did try to negotiate an S&T with the 76er's for $9m/year bypassing the rumored (complicated) GSW/Dallas/76ers/... 5-team deal?

And .. Detroit has $24m in cap-space plus MLE, so Detroit too decided not to beat out GSW at $9m/year forcing Hield to choose the $$$ with GSW?

I have no idea what Detroit did or did not decide. I'm saying the Lakers weren't bringing in Buddy Hield @ 3/$27M. As for convincing LeBron to take a $9M hit for Buddy Hield, I think the better questions to ask are:

1 - is Buddy Hield worth $9M/yr to the Lakers,
2 - is Buddy better for the Lakers than whoever they'd cut/trade to make a roster spot for him, and
3 - what does signing Buddy cost in terms of other moves they might make?

And if you're LeBron: does Buddy bring enough to the court to justify giving up $18M of your own money?

I'm not a Buddy basher - he's a legit NBA player - but I don't see Buddy @ $9M impacting our roster. As a vet min signing? Hey, I'll take him all day long . . . but he wasn't available at the vet min.
