His finger just had a cut on it.

I think it was ex-NFL player DeMarco Farr who said he actually prefers LeBron to play this summer due to his age. He needs to keep training and playing over summer to keep his body in check. A lot of guys don’t retire on a set schedule, they have that one summer where they just lose it, and return to training camp to learn their body just doesn’t have it anymore.

with the disappointing free agency so far for the Laker, really i have no interest in Team USA right about now. kind of same feeling if your team is on a bad losing streak into the All Star game, and your two main guys are all fun and dandy in all the All Star activities.

Dude. It’s not that bad. I know people are ultra thirsty for the excitement that comes with the shiny new toys, but this team won 47 games with a double digit IQ coach. They lost to a team that had their number. Much like the late 90s Lakers and the Jazz. Or even the late 90s spurs. Sometimes you have to be patient. It might work out or it might not but this is a good team. That’s all we can ask for. Demanding a championship favorite team every year is the kind of thinking that leads to the unrealistic expectations that leave you disappointed like you are right now.

Steve Kerr says he was blown away by how hard LeBron practices.
Kerr: “I went to Ty [Lue] and [Erik Spoelstra] and said 'Is this normal?'”
Spoelstra: “Everyday. Every drill. Every walk-through. Everyday.”

Sounds like Cooper Flagg dominated. Select team only lost 74-73

AD missed 2 FTs last possession that would have put them up by 3. But did have the game saving block.

But Kerr seems to be still looking for the right combinations out there. They are still missing KD because of calf strain.

But Flagg is impressive... Can't believe Spurs might luck into him again because they own ATL's 2025 unprotected pick.

Why couldn't Lebron get Team USA to select Bronny James?
He earned it.

If Team USA had 58 slots perhaps he could have got him selected at 55th, that wouldn’t be a bad risk at that spot. Players chosen that late are a gamble and are expected not to make it. Work ethic, character, willingness to learn, basket ball IQ, and athleticism, are the traits that give the long shots the best chance of succeeding. Seems like Bronny has those. It doesn’t mean he will succeed, the odds are that none of the later drafted players will, but when gambling on a draftee…at 55th…it has as good of chance as any as a decent risk to take, plus it is a good historic story which we know is the main reason.

don't give him any idea, LeBron will then keep on playing until Bronny gets selected onto the Team USA. father-son Olympian on the same team.

From what I've seen they are using Lebron in a point-forward role where he controls the ball and sets up all the other scorers. Smart strategy and will keep everyone happy.

What will be worth watching is how quick Lebron still is off the dribble. At some point you have to think his athleticism will drop off a cliff, he somehow has avoided it but it seems inevitable. Against teams like France, Canada is where you might see it tested.

So question about Team USA exhibition games and Olympic Games.

Do we make threads here or on the General Basketball Discussion thread? I feel like it should be posted here cuz 2 of our most important players for the Lakers are on the team.

Kawhi Leonard withdraws from Team USA, out for Paris Olympics

Quote:
Kawhi Leonard has withdrawn from Team USA less than three weeks before the start of the Paris Olympics.

USA Basketball announced Leonard's decision Wednesday, saying the LA Clippers star will spend the rest of the summer preparing for the 2024-25 NBA season.

"Kawhi has been ramping up for the Olympics over the past several weeks and had a few strong practices in Las Vegas," USA Basketball said in a statement. "He felt ready to compete. However, he respects that USA Basketball and the Clippers determined it's in his best interest to spend the remainder of the summer preparing for the upcoming season rather than participating in the Olympic Games in Paris."

This honestly makes more sense to me. I understand that he probably wants to have the Olympic experience and represent his country etc. etc. but dude Kawhi gotta stay on the floor for the Clippers seriously. Just one time, to quote the late great Bill Walton lol
