Mostly a terrible game though. It's like we colluded with refs to keep it close to set up that moment

Amazing how far the game has come internationally. The idea that the top American professionals have to work this hard to win shows it really has become a wold game.

Spain in 2008 was more impressive. Maybe even Argentina in 2004 and 2008. Greece pulled off a huge upset over a loaded USA team in the semifinals in 2006.

Even in 2000 a loaded USA barely won in the last 2 games against Lithuania and France.

I don’t disagree with you, but I do think it was shocking how well the rest of the world stacked up back in 2000-2004 especially.

Lebron is the engine of that USA team, for sure. I'm full of swears right now because of how exciting this game was, so I'll try to dance around them.

AD was amazing. He was everywhere defensively. Bam was a nice punch off the bench with his rotational abilities defensively, and his screen setting. AD provides all that and dominant shot blocking, while also disrupting passing lanes. There was a play down the stretch where I think it was a screen roll situation where Yabuchele (idk how to spell it but it sounds that way) was driving with AD guarding Wemby in the key. AD comes over to help and prevents the pass, then blocks the layup while also controlling it. Just something Bam doesn't provide at all, despite him having a really good series.

Honestly I was very impressed with Booker, but who cares about him. This is a Lakers forum. And Lebron was the engine of this team. Down the stretch Curry was playing point guard after Lebron being the main driver for the previous 3. This worked out really well because Curry was hotter than the core of the sun. But throughout these olympic games Lebron was the one that was really finding everybody, and getting them in spots where they fluorish. His iq is off the charts. He's leading without the ball too, calling plays, but also hyping EVERYONE up on the team. It really cannot be said enough how much of a leader that man is.

Great game to watch, had a lot of fun cheering for players I never get a chance to cheer for. These olympic games feel like a good will session for basketball.

Sad this is probably the last olympics for Curry/Lebron/Durant. But it is a really good one to go out with.

If the top 2 picks in this years draft turn out to be all star players, the French will have a pretty good core going into 2028.

Team USA desperately needs a floor general PG in LA or they need to actually seriously practice plays. It was disturbing that LeBron was the only guy that could drive and make a layup or a pass, and even he had 5 TO. That was an ugly, ugly offensive showing all Olympics that was glossed over by some elite shotmaking and occasional transition plays.

Very underwhelming performance by USA all together. Given the talent on the roster the scores were mostly pathetic and the Serbia game was a joke.

This is like a team favored to win by 20-50 points every game half assing there way to a medal. Wasn’t very inspiring

He really isnt. The ones who make clutch shots when you don't expect them to or when the rhythm of the game is AGAINST them or neutral, and they still make those key shots: Those are the real clutch players and they have a consistent history of doing so. Some of those include: Reggie Miller vs Knicks Game 5 1994 and Game 1 1995. Anfernee Hardaway vs Pacers Game 4 1995 (even though they lost, the shots he was hitting at Market Square when the Magic as a whole were playing like (bleep) - Penny Hardaway was a real clutch player - his team could be playing like complete dog (bleep) and he would find a way to make key plays by himself - an example of a player less than Steph but in big moments give me Penny over Steph 10 times out of 10 - just mentally a stronger player than Steph). Nick Van Exel, his entire Lakers tenure with the circus clutch shots he would hit out of nowhere and Game 5 1995 vs San Antonio when the Lakers couldnt buy a bucket and the Lakers lost the lead they held nearly the entire game at the Alamodome. With Steph in big games and the bigger the game, the more he is likely to do this, when the rhythm of the game is against him/his team or neutral and he has to make a key play, its almost always a miss.

With him and with Kobe as well, it almost feels like you can tell when they are about to be clutch. But the real clutch players are the ones where you think your team is lost with the rhythm completely against your team and the team morale is down: after the clutch improbable shot, it feels like you stole victory from the jaws of defeat.
