Looks like my personal thread. Oh well, it suits me. Still, how about some controversy or con tra' vesy as the Brits say.
Caitlin got poked in the eye by some long-ass nails. It looked innocent enough as I watched it. But, here is a video with another angle. Arm up, wrist up, then when the ball's released, arm down, wrist cocked down with fingers aimed at face. It looks bad. Yes, it is hard to say it was intentional, as this could have been a natural motion, but then, even flagrant's don't have to be. Caitlin's eye had blackened by the end of the day, but it could have been career ending. Big deal? Yeah, for the other 3 games on Sunday, viewership was ~425K. For Indiana 1.8M+ (opposite the NFL and the Cowboys).
You be the judge, at about 9:13 if you don't want to wade through the usual gobbledygook, with a still at 9:23.
Just sayin' . . . when you go to block a shot like that, you put your hand up vertically with your fingers spread (as she does when she starts the motion) and you hold it there because that's the most likely way to get something on it to deflect it . . . you don't close your fingers together and then point them straight down like your are trying to dig at something . . . _________________ HARRISWALZ2024

I'm on board with "The nails gotta go." I've always wondered how they played with those fake nails without breaking them.
Caitlin deserves the ink she's getting but it's also a reason some players dislike her. She's a rookie getting more attention than veterans. As a poster said in another thread success breeds contempt. If I'm on a jury of 12, I vote intentional. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I would definitely lose respect for WNBA if the woman who intentionally committed assault with intent to maim or injure does not get at least a one game suspension.
You don't have to be part of the PreCog unit to know what she was doing.. Did she apologize profusely after or just go on like that's part of the game?
One game or more suspension or WNBA has no shame. This isn't a boxing ring. Players shouldn't have to fear insecure (bleep) trying to physically injure them.

Never realized this but why are women allowed to play with long fake nails?
True. It's almost like having dull blades on their finger tips. It would be like guys playing with brass knuckles.
As a former water polo player, it has always baffled me. When I used to play, there was a nail check before every game. They had to trimmed down to the finger tips. _________________ HARRISWALZ2024
On a side note. I am watching the pregame show and was thinking, if they had a newly retired NBA player in the broadcast it would help in attracting more views. Not saying make it all men but at least add one or two. NBA does this with players like Lisa Leslie.

Don't you have to wear several speedos when you play water polo? I heard when the opponents push off sometimes the big toe gets caught on the speedo and will rip it right off. Had a friend that played water polo in high school and that's what he told me.
