Its already dark. Unfortunately we are not acquiring the wealth (draft picks) that comes with it. |
Yup. |
We'd bungle up the picks anyways. _________________ KOBE |

I wouldn't be surprised if Jeanie thinks of Rob as best in the business. |
It is extremely sad that this list of priorities is likely accurate. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

I totally buy in the Lakers have their eyes on him.
Highly doubt Luka will move on and pass up all that extension money to wait to sign a max deal with the Lakers.
Trade? That's just not happening. If Mavs were ever forced, they'd send him to the East. |

Now that Mark Cuban is no longer involved with the Mavericks, the team's new owner, who also owns the Las Vegas Sands Corporation and is worth $28.2 billion, has taken over. Cuban and Adelson are pushing to introduce gambling and casinos in Texas, and the state seems likely to approve it. They plan to build a new arena with an attached hotel and casino on the site of the old Cowboys stadium.
Luka will soon be up for a massive contract extension, and I seriously doubt he would leave all of that behind for Jeanie Buss and Rob Pelinka. The prestige of the Lakers doesn't hold the same sway with today's players as it did with previous generations. Plus, with no state income tax in Texas, that mega deal becomes even more enticing, especially with Luka's established roots in Dallas.
I'd love for Luka to prove me wrong and surprise everyone, but this just sounds like KOC talking nonsense. |

A pipe so ridiculous that it's funny. We'll definitely get him when he's 32. One of Rob's hallmarks is acquiring players on the tail ends of their primes. Luka may have 3-4 years of peak play left, and all of those years will play out on the Mavs because they are competitive now. He's been playing professional ball since 16. Yo don't want to see it, but his body will give out at some point, especially considering how banged up he is every year in the playoffs. Further, he has to play himself into shape because he seems to lack motivation in the offseason. That won't fly as he's older and his body fails him.
We desperately need a system and framework that doesn't prioritize free agent superstars. The superstars will come if we have a good program, but this organization is arguably the most volatile in history. The coaches come and go every 2 years, Lebron and Klutch run the show and will backstab you the moment they want you gone.
TL;DR - nothing will change until management cleans house. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.

I like the superstar route. It's not necessarily worse than the system route.
With Kobe we won a 3 peat to start a decade. Then went to 3 more finals (in a row) later in that same decade (winning 2).
Meanwhile, San Antonio's system route never did that.
We aren't winning another chip with Bron IMO. But that is more about the superstar as opposed to the "superstar route" in general. _________________ When the world grows. Don't choose to stay the same. |

He signed KCP which we eventually ended up winning a title with him, that was considered a good signing especially because he helped us win a title, I will wait and see what happens with this current roster from now until training camp, I still think there is still a surprise trade in the works |

As for Luka, like I said the only way he comes here is if LeBron tells him how being a Laker is so amazing and that the FO knows how to make there stars feel comfortable etc.. I think there is a 10% chance that this materializes and becomes a possibility |

Wouldn't be surprised if 32 year old Luka was a worse player than 39 year old LeBron. He hasn't proven he can actually play on both sides of the ball in a deep playoff run, was abysmal defensively in the Finals, and looked fat as hell in the Dragic farewell game. He's been playing professionally since he was 14. He's got a lot of miles. |

Yup. get him before 28 |
lol
All signs point to him signing a 70 mil / yr extension next offseason, making him the highest paid player in NBA history.
That being said, he'd be perfect next to AD. No one can dispute his fit with the team, but if all it takes is one wrong AD landing for the season to end, then he's almost certainly not coming here. He'd have more success with the Rockets or Spurs, and they have the cap room to do it. _________________ Yi Jianlian Fanboy. Respect The Chair.
