No interest in this title game LG?

I had to bump this.

Ohio State -9 vs. Notre Dame

Ohio State has a $20 million dollar roster, they should win this game but I am guessing Notre Dame keeps it within the number.

Ohio State 31, Notre Dame 27

What an unbelievable opening drive for Notre Dame, 18 plays and the QB ran on half of them. Now Ohio State is driving as they try to answer back.

The commercials are better than the game.

I thought we were in for a competitive game after that initial ND drive, but nope. This is going to be a full Ohio State blowout.

I'm barely watching but I'm pretty sure Chris Fowler just said that, with 6 minutes to go in the third quarter, Notre Dame just had their first first down since the opening drive?

Damn.

They actually just got another TD.

Freeman opts for a FG try in goal to go down by 16 with under 10 minutes to play. DOINK! LOL, they got what they deserved. What a horrific decision to try for 3 points there. You have to go for the touchdown. Just stupefying.

The poorness of that decision looms large now.

Watching these postgame interviews, God apparently rooted for a state university over Notre freaking Dame.

That was pretty comical.

God and Jesus have made a huge comeback in college football. It's almost abnormal to not hear coaches and players invoking the Lord now.

One of them literally thanked God on national television for making him a Buckeye.

And then people wonder why Mike Johnson thinks he's Moses.

My wife and I were discussing that when CFP was kicking in.

Few things make my eyes roll harder than athletes proclaiming that God loves their team more than their opponent. If nothing else, it’s blatantly disrespectful and disgustingly arrogant.

To add to that, it's funny how some 19 year old jock, who hasn't attended a real class in college and hasn't read a damn book all his life, somehow has already figured out the meaning of life and proclaims Jesus as his Lord and Savior in front of millions of people.

Now imagine the outcry if one of them celebrated their atheism or agnosticism after a win.

Or they're just using their platform to genuinely praise God that they get to give him a shout out. As theyre excelling in what they're passionate about its not that theyre special but that they get to share. Thats the gospel, no man is special...all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and Christ gave the way to be redeemed from our sins. I get that the world will take it as some arrogant mindset that the other schools are filled with unbelievers or that a sport that can be an idol to some is some sort of top priority to God vs "bigger issues". That's flawed thinking and I don't expect anyone that currently oppose God without Christ as Lord and savior to understand. Even Penn Gilette has respect for Christians that proselytize since if someone genuinely believed their audience was going to hell without Christ it would be hateful to keep that from them. He doesn't believe but he respects why they do what they do.

Emeka said he loved how God moved on this team. That doesn't have to be some sort of weird angels in the outfield trickery God is pulling. It could genuinely be that guys like Howard and Sawyer take their time to shine and humbly give it to the Lord and dudes listen. We have Lakers players that were inspired by LBJ willing to stick his neck out for causes and its applauded. If it were God in general, it wouldn't be such a big deal. But they keep burning some of your ears with the only true hope Jesus Christ. I have a lot of posts and I'll risk them all for posting the only thing that matters...Jesus > everything we talk about. He can't be contained in one place though our forum rules say this. You guys brought him in here and just like my Buckeyes, I'm more proud to talk about Jesus than anything. When you're saved, you can't help but share where true love and hope is.

So if you don't follow Jesus, you're damned, got it.

I don't actually have a problem with any person professing their faith. My problem is that they have the ignorance/nerve to suggest that God wants them to win, or was with them in terms of the outcome. It's so blatantly offensive. This implies that God wanted the other team, specifically, to lose. It's like what George Carlin once joked about, that he'd love to see a player from the losing team being interviewed and say "Jesus made me drop the ball; the Good Lord tripped me up behind the line of scrimmage."

I totally get the 2nd part. By bringing up God you risk two things. One is having to actually practice what your preach. That's why nobody is actually mad at musicians/actors that thank God first and openly live sinful lives..they just don't take them and by proxy "their god" seriously. The other is that people take your concept of a sovereign God + your appeal to Him as your strength to mean that you're so special God couldn't do his plan without using you. It's why as a young Christian I used to use Phil 4:13 way out of context that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" to ask to have a top grade..am I asking God to make others fail? Or could I just read the context and know it was about Him being worth it through ups and downs (Paul had) so for sports that should translate to win or lose I'll thank God and I'll hope others ask why I think that way. Reggie White used to be known for thanking God even in losses. Yes, some of the players may see God as the rally monkey that you Angels fans had. Something silly they go along with cuz others "believe". If so, that's on them. That doesn't stop guys from being vocal any more than it didn't stop LBJ when he was called out to shut up and dribble. If a few are insincere it doesn't stop the ones that aren't.

To the first point yes Christ himself is very clear (John 14:6, John 3:16-20) on this opportunity to choose Him the same way that I choose to use my heat in -1 weather here in Ohio. I believe it works and it's a grace given so I don't die, but even that isn't an ideal analogy since I do it out of love first and foremost for what He did for me and who He is...not just a genie I can ask to win a game. I get why some that see osu players as lamp rubbers would be rightfully angry the same way the pharisees are looked down on even by nonbelievers. Again, I don't know each players heart but since Christ is being praised I'm excited about the "PR"
