Sad, yet another school shooting. So sorry for everyone impacted. The fear of this happening to my daughters and my wife (teacher) are in the back of my mind daily when they leave. It shouldn’t be this way.
Now we wait for the same drumbeat of “thoughts and prayers” by Republicans while they chastise anyone suggesting that we need better gun control in this country by saying “now is not the time to discuss this” and blaming mental health while they try try to make affordable mental health care impossible.

I haven't herd about what weapon was used in this shooting. If it was an assault rifle Republicans will say this is not the time to talk about banning assault rifles. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Unfortunately it’s obvious nothing will ever happen. After Sandy Hook it became apparent there was nothing too horrible for republicans that would force them to act. Every time this happens they just wish “thoughts and prayers” and then go home to their AR-15’s, hold them, and tell them everything will be all right.
That's the MAWA approach, Violence. That ad will get him elected in Georgia.
It's being reported the shooter is a teenager. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

When will our representatives wake up?
Quote:
The US has suffered at least 385 mass shootings so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which, like CNN, defines mass shootings as those in which four or more victims are shot. That’s an average of more than 1.5 mass shootings every day.

There must be a lot of money involved in not controlling guns.. and I am imagining it is more sinister.. it isn't the value of the guns but the value of The Prison Industrial Complex
And how did this child become so hurt and angry that it was willing to disalive people... how did his mind and heart disconnect and how did he become desensitized to murder?
Why does this hit so hard.. damn *From your link above

Student texted mom: ‘I’m scared’
Quote:
Erin Clark was at work Wednesday morning when she got a series of text messages from her son, a senior, who was attending class at Apalachee High School.
“School shooting.”
“I’m scared,” he wrote.
“pls” “i’m not joking,” the flurry of messages said.
“I’m leaving work,” Clark replied. “I love you,” her son, Ethan Haney, 17, wrote back.
“Love you too baby,” his mom texted before racing to the high school.
Clark told CNN her son heard eight or nine gunshots before he closed his classroom door and, with the help of another classmate, moved chairs and tables to block the door.
Clark told CNN she was “absolutely terrified” when she read her son’s messages. “Just kept praying he’d stay safe,” she said. She said she was “in complete shock that this was actually happening.”

shooter's name is colt
That's ironic. A 14yr old child's life has virtually ended. SMH _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Student says gunman tried to get into classroom but was denied by classmate. Gunfire was heard moments later
Lyela Sayarath, a junior at Apalachee High School, told CNN she was sitting next to suspected gunman Colt Gray moments before the deadly shooting occurred Wednesday.
She said Colt left the classroom at the beginning of their Algebra 1 class around 9:45 a.m. local time. Lyela thought Colt was going to the bathroom, but he didn’t take a pass, so she assumed he was skipping class, she said.
Toward the end of her Algebra class, Lyela said someone over the loudspeaker told her teacher to check her email.
Shortly after, Colt returned to the classroom outside of the shut door, which Lyela said locks automatically. She said a girl in the class went to open the door for him, but then jumped backwards after presumedly seeing that he had a gun.
Quote:
“I guess he saw we weren’t going to let him in. And I guess the classroom next to me, their door was open so I think he just started shooting in the classroom,” Lyela told CNN.
Lyela said the students in her classroom hid behind desks, as they heard the gunshots, which she described as “just one after another.”
Quote:
“When we heard it, most people just dropped to the floor and like kind of crawled in an area like piled on top of each other,” she said. “The teacher turned off the lights, but we all just kind of piled together. And like I pushed desks in front of us.”
Lyela said her friend was in the classroom next to her, where the shooting was taking place.
Quote:
“He was pretty shaken up,” she said of her friend. “He saw somebody get shot. He had blood on him. He was kinda limping. He looked horrified.”
Lyela described Colt as quiet and shy, and would only respond with single word answers when they worked as a group on projects together.

So his plan was to shoot up his own classroom. He got locked out so he went and shot up the classroom next door.
Here's my question, if doors automatically lock, how'd he get into the other classroom?
I saw an interview of a girl in the classroom he was trying to get in to. She said the door automatically locks when closed. She said a person went to open the door for him but backed off. Saw the gun on him so decided not to open the door. As far as how he got in to the other classroom, not sure. I'm assuming they didn't see the gun on him.

Trump has been out of office for almost four years.

Republican answer to tragedy is to point fingers at anyone but themselves and their paid donors. This is dereliction of duty, we should have done something about something years ago. "it's not a gun problem, it's a people/mental illness problem" okay then what have we done about that? Nothing? Okay great.

The brain is a complicated computer. You can't go in and rewire a circuit. Reagan closed mental institutions in Calif. I know very little about mental illnesses. I believe more seriousness and funds should be given to the infirmity. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
