Who will see the floor for the Lakers first Koloko, Vando or Woods?

*Christian Koloko to begin return-to-play process with South Bay Lakers
Now that the NBA has cleared Christian Koloko to return to the court, his next step is a stint with the South Bay Lakers.

Just a reminder..,if we want dude for more than 50 regular season games and a potential playoff run, we’d have to roster him as a converted standard contract at some point during the season….meaning we’d have to create a roster spot, seeing how we’re already maxed out at 15 as is.

JHS-Cam-DLo… who can we bring back with that salary Vas? Has to be less coming back right?

@Gov: you looking at about 25m in salary you can bring in…

Don’t know if we have the additional assets other than salary to get it done, but unlike dude’s name, I’m hoping we’re not Miles away from making a trade this time around. CamJ is another possibility (have to calculate in more outbound salary since dude has nearly 3m in unlikely incentives to account for) I like where that type of outbound salary nearly nets us a 2way player. Now if we involve more salary like Rui/MaxL, we can bring in both…wishful thinking, I know…but we gotta start rostering more 2way players. Hoping that DLo & Rui could do more for us defensively, is again, wishful thinking.

Christian Koloko is with the team and will be listed as active tomorrow 👀

https://x.com/ladeig/status/1853929217215652238?s=46&t=6-sxM4NpvzeWdNMn3aVCqg

Which is a little different from what others have said

Anthony Davis is questionable with his foot injury, Christian Koloko is not on the injury report and I’m hearing he’ll be with the team in Memphis and should be active tomorrow night.

https://x.com/danwoikesports/status/1853928228093608204?s=46&t=6-sxM4NpvzeWdNMn3aVCqg

But it's definitely encouraging that he is with the team.

Yep. He will get some run tonight

JJ Redick says he plans on using Christian Koloko tonight.

Glad to see Koloko get some solid playing time. He looked decent, all things considered.
He also had a nice block at the rim.

Looked good. Better than Hayes for the mere fact he can actually defend the paint.

Koloko looked pretty decent again, I'm impressed with how Traore played as well. I think we took a step up at coach for this South Bay squad. Keep developing these bigs.

So can Hayes.

And this time pick the right one.

They picked Castleton over Huff which was a huge mistake even then it was clear. Hopefully they've learned from that and don't repeat the mistakes they made with Pippen and Huff, and actually keep Olivari and Koloko and Traore has some solid potential as well.

^ The advantage of a move like Castleton over Huff is that you can keep the new player on a cost controlled 2-way longer. Our cost model is to pay (typically two) max players most of the money and look for deals everywhere else.

That's part of the reason Pelinka has gone two years on the minimum signings. Allows him to use the min player contract (limited to two years) which has tax benefits in how much it counts and the player enters free agency under the strictest form of restricted free agency (Arenas). They never want to have to pay a market rate for a non-star player. That's also why a deal for Kessler is unlikely.

Koloko is Klutch and in some ways a distressed asset given the health risk. If he plays well enough, he probably gets a very modest longer term offer from the Lakers. Paul will press them for more money and they meet in the middle.

No Wood, Hayes or Vando.

Koloko, come on down!

This young man is going to find minutes now, he's literally our only big outside of AD who's available. Hoping for the best.

Hoping JJ will play him together with AD to solve their paint defense problem. They will not be worried that one of them will be pulled out the paint, their will be another one who will protect the paint. Both are actually mobile and not that bad of a perimeter defender.

reasonably solid defensively, finished the 2 lobs that were thrown to him

it's been 1.5 years since he last played, so it might take quite a few games before he gets his legs and timing back. He'll get time across the next 2 weeks with Jax out

Lakers could do him a solid by bringing in Kareem to teach him some footwork and angles on offense.

He also needs to learn more about how to use his size on D correctly - there's no way he should be getting muscled. I seem to remember he was better at that, so maybe it's just a matter of remember how and building his game strength back up

I bet we see Bryce enter the game before we see Wood again. Vando creeping into that territory as well. I have a feeling he’s eventually gonna realize he needs surgery.

I’m really hoping this guy works out because with Hayes out the bench is basically: Koloko/Knecht/Dlo. And now Rui is hurt.

I’ve just about abandoned any optimistic expectations for: Vincent/MaxChris/Vando/Wood/JHS

Rob you fracker, you left us hanging again 😫

I sometimes forget Wood and Vando are on our team.

Koloko was productive off the bench today. He gave us 10 solid minutes.
(3-4 FG), 6 RB, 1 Ast, 1Blk, 1 Stl. | good defense and hustle.

1 ill advised 3 was about the only knock against him

it'd be nice if we can get him more minutes to get his legs fully back...and then he'd have a chance to show if he can be more
