Reading you .. I think you Got this.. yes?
Like how does this work.. Underground safety that cannot flood?

4th Strongest Hurricane recorded in history, so far...

I don’t know we’ll see. I’m not concerned about storm surge since I’m not near the ocean. There are lakes around us, but most are probably 1000 feet plus away. Wind is definitely a concern. I doubt me or my family is in any danger since our house was built in 2012 and is cinder block construction. But I’m counting on significant roof damage and other damage. Dealing with the mess that is insurance in Florida will be interesting.

Thank you very much for the update.
I have never really dealt with any weather capable of being called a disaster...

Double check those checklists you made for these times

Best of luck to you and yours.

Remember to have some chocolate cake available if the power goes out..

Yea a Hurricake was definitely on the list. My kids insist on it when a storm comes. I got a “Hazelnut Indulgence Cake: Chocolate cake iced in hazelnut cream cheese icing. Made with Nutella and enrobed in chocolate ganache.”

^^This guy Cakes.. that sounds like one super delicious cake.. honest .. props on going all out.

Cake was delicious. We still have like over half left for tomorrow. Quite a filling cake.

These stupid things always hit at night. Ian was a nighttime storm, and I couldn’t sleep, the wind was SOOO loud and constant. And that was just 50-60 mph. This one will be 60-100 mph. Not going to be much sleep tonight.

My neighbors to the right left all their Halloween decorations up, a swing with a canopy on their porch and had their heavy rolling garbage and recycling cans on the curb and then left town. I went and took their cans and rolled them next to their house tucked into a corner near the garage. Inconsiderate jerks, those cans were going to be projectiles. I’m just hoping that porch swing and their large skeleton decoration doesn’t end up through my window.

Was really eye opening and painful to read a local sheriff tell people who are staying behind to use a permanent marker and write their bio data on their bodies. 😔

7 of the webcams from that link at top of pg 2 are OUT

scary scary stuff

Quote:
Al Roker said there are approximately 10 tornadoes recorded in various parts of the Peninsula east-northeast of the storm. He also said that after nightfall there will be more "from Miami to Orlando" and they will be harder to detect.

It appears to have to do with the side of the storm where they occur.

Saw a pic of one of the Tornadoes that popped up in Clewiston.. looks like Oklahoma sized

I just read that Taylor Swift has donated $5 million towards Hurricane Milton relief.

Way to go Young Lady, that is a great thing.

YUP! I think that's a tax write-off.

Taylor Swift is a 34 year old woman and savvy business person who is now the wealthiest female recording artist. She has also has an extensive record of giving that wealth back to people. All throughout her massive Eras tour she was donating large sums of money to charities in each city on the tour. Not to mention the fact that she gave a huge sum of money to her crew members and transport people on the tour above and beyond their salary to compensate them for the time spent away from their families.

This was not simply some tax write off by a young lady.

Please keep the updates coming as you are able to. It’s good to hear how it’s going and as long as we hear from you, we know you guys are relatively alright. And I hope you can squeeze in a bit of sleep.

My wife is asleep but both kids are awake. No way I’ll be sleeping, too busy patrolling around the house with a flashlight looking for signs of leaks.
