There was lots of reaches and raw talent in this draft, but mark my words: they're going to regret not doing all they could to get a major difference maker, Zach Edey. I'm sure I'll bet ridiculed, but this is the one guy who was worth giving up a future pick or 2 for. It won't take long before people notice. |

There are threads for this. But what makes you think he'd have been available for some picks? The Grizzlies drafted him for a reason, he didn't fall as many expected. Knecht did. We drafted well based on what was on offer.
Anyway, let's see how he adapts to having to run with Morant day-in and day-out as a 7-4, 300lb guy before we sell the farm for him. Massive talent, but still needs to prove he can adapt to the pace. Wemby is 40kg lighter. _________________ "I got Wheaties!" |

Knecht is fine for the pick.
The bigger issue is roster construction. _________________ The most important shot in basketball. |

Just what price would you expect to pay to get to 9 or higher in the draft? It would have to be at least 17 + a future 1st. There's a lot of known quantity players you could get for that. |

Higher picks don't necessarily mean better picks. For example, look at what the Lakers did with their second overall picks, DLo and Ball. On the other hand, Kawhi, DWade and Giannis were 15th picks so yea, it's all the luck of the draw. What's to say Knect wouldn't become like one of those guys. _________________ Los Angeles Lakers 2025 NBA Champions!! Go JJ! |

If Edey is a lock to be great he would have gone much earlier than 9. Lakers aren't going to trade two firsts to move up to a select a player who might turn out to be an average player or a bust. They would have traded those two picks for a proven player. |

I think that Edey being 22 had a lot to do with him going 9th. Most of those drafted before him were youngsters. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |
