Another thing they talked about is using AD as an offensive hub.
I did notice that (as him having the ball at the high post) and running screens or like plays. One involved Vincent setting a screen for LBJ and lead to an easy layup.
It seem to be very effective and can take pressure off LBJ.
But as the above posters said, it won't see till some time how effective it will be.
I like these plays, I just don't know if it is different from last year, but it seems like more movement and more playcalling.
Below is another video
Thanks for GT's excellent videos
We have seen talented teams with superstars (i.e. Suns, Mavs, etc.) look dysfunctional despite having HOFers on the court.
Teams like the Spurs and Dubs that run very disciplined offensive schemes that make HOFers (Parker/TD/Manu to Steph/KD/Klay) shine. With the Lakers (outside of LBJ/AD) not having HOFers on the court, those players that are detailed oriented and know the offensive schemes (w/its various counters) will thrive.
Already seeing Knecht, AR and Vincent embracing the details with Rui to DLo still learning how to maximize every possession.

Different system but same crappy defense and same crappy players. Unless we get better players besides Lebron and AD, results will be the same as last year. Fringe playoff team first round fodder.
No question there is more ball movement. It is still very early. It seems JJ wants these guys to take more 3's (including AD). TBH, I would feel a little better if there was more movement underneath because we really do not have the outside shooting to survive this system. It will be critical to outscore teams from the fast break and free throws.
Video on how Ham refused to play the common sense lineup last season. Hearing everything laid out back to back to back infuriated me. I had honestly forgotten (or just wiped it from my mind due to trauma) some of the abominations he put out there. Cam, TP, Rui, AD, and LBJ was one of the lineups he tried before doing the obvious thing. Jesus. Lakers had to sprint the last third of the season to dig themselves out of the hole Ham dug for us. I remember almost giving up on the playoffs when we blew the game against the Rockets, I think without Sengun? And once he did the obvious thing, shocker, the Lakers did extremely well.
I think their D in the last game was pretty decent, especially for the first game, and with who we have....D lo was at least scrapping, same with AR, Rui....we need more from Gabe, and hopefully Vando can come back soon and back to form soon after that.....and Koloko even as another big body may also help if is he is capable to get on the court and not completely rusty......I think it's a little early to judge how good this D will or will not be
I care more about what the players look like in the scheme of the game vs the plays.
So far what I’ve seen is that Redick just knows not to Ham himself. He rode his starters in game 1. 35 minutes almost for each of AD/Bron/Rui/DLO/Reaves.
We’re basically the same team IMO. I think we can win about 45-50 games depending on factors such as health and how dedicated we remain to defense.
For spec the plays one change I saw was more Reaves handling the ball. We’re also actively trying to shoot more 3s. We are running more sets and less free/non play calling style sets. I’m not a fan of the high volume 3s when we don’t have the talent for it. We lack the lasers other teams possess.
It’s basic basketball. I don’t expect Redick to do wonders but he should be able to get this team to play .600 ball. Thats the only expectation I have of the team at the moment. .600 level ball.
One concern? West seems deep. A lot of .500-.600 level teams. Could be up to 12 teams this year that win 41 games or more. Not sure we can afford a slump month or so like we had last year.
It may be just me, but it appears that JJ understands he needs to win early in the season unlike Ham head. I think he realizes how important it is to get off to a good start and not get in a hole. I doubt he will do the BS tinkering that Ham constantly did.
The obvious? AD touched the ball in the 4th, a lot, like focal point on offense a lot, no LeBron iso (except for the 3 mins Bronny photo op) _________________ “The main goal for the Lakers is to win a championship. All I care about, all we care about, is to raise another banner in the rafters.“

You can't win a season in the first 2 weeks, but you can lose one.
