We got you dude. Hope you start posting here again. Need some OG-heads with legit analysis instead of the same 5 guys arguing over the same 2 topics with the same slants.
He makes a great observation about Chick. Jeanie's ass probably would have fired him for his brutal honesty tbh. "My feelings!"
Make sure y'all like and subscribe for one of ours. _________________ KOBE

He could stay but had to give up the podcast. HR basically said his coverage of the Hurley situation and categorizing it as a "saga" was no bueno.
I can't believe what a weak and pathetic decision that is. 100% on brand with the current Lakers. This ain't your father's Lakers. _________________ KOBE
I didn't even know Golden Throat the mod/poster was Pete Zayas the podcaster. All these years here! I don't really follow podcasts much TBH.
Anyway that news to me aside it seems his employer (the Lakers) dropped his podcast. While they gave no direct confirmation of the reason they feel through human resources that it was saying the Hurley situation was a "saga".

Yes, basically you can infer that the the Lakers management is probably a little touchy going into this season and didn't want their own media putting out anything that wasn't drinking the kool-aid. Could be wrong but that's what really seem to be the case.

GT - I'm one of a big bunch of people who would love to see you back, man. I really appreciate and enjoy your insights and your approach to the Lakers team, players, coaching, the NBA as well. I'm wishing you well in whatever your next chapter is, but it would be great to see you back again.

The Lakers need to hire him as their video coordinator. He should be working with the team directly influencing play on the court. Like what Eric Spoelstra was in Miami early on under Riley. He's that good at this.
I feel like with Redick as the head coach being in favor of analytics that Pete's style would fit in with him.
It's wild that you guys think any big company would let an employee put out content that's critical of the company.
Pete's point was that Chick would do that all the time. I get that employees are supposed to be homers, but I think everyone is a homer on LFR. This idea that you're never supposed to criticize the team is ridiculous and out of touch with what fans want. Fans don't want North Korean propaganda, they want the story told how it is. What the FO wants is another matter. They're going around snuffing out "leaks." It's embarrassing.
Bummed for GT, but also admire his decision to stick to his guns with the Pod. It's not entirely surprising, given the organization's behavior over the years. If they fire Big Game too, I'm going to need him to come onto LFR to talk about his hot mic points.

I think it's more that there was a Laker employee putting out content on their own personal platform that could be construed as overly critical or negative. They didn't fire him, they gave him an ultimatum - they didn't want him putting out his own Laker related content as a Laker employee that wasn't official Laker content.

That's a fair point, but I would not classify the Lakers as a "big company." They're a small family-run business with a huuuge reach, amazing brand recognition, and a very limited but astronomically valuable product.
Although, if I'm correct, your point would only be strengthened. Only a few cooks in a very high-pressure kitchen.
Anyway, the podcast is great, and hopefully their newfound independence will allow them to bring on guests that can really break things down and educate us hoops luddites without fear of retribution.

That's double talk (not you personally, but rather the org). How can you be a journalist if you have to wait until some official version becomes sanctified? Besides, as a journalist you lose all credibility with your audience if you only spew tepid, pro-company commentary, so it's only a matter of time before you lose your audience anyway. You have to take a stand. It comes down to whether you take pride in being a journalist or take pride in being a PR mouthpiece.

If my workplace gave me an "ultimatum" based on me being slightly critical of them, I'd walk out. That's like a more offensive way of just letting me go. What does it say about this business that they're concerned about LFR's audience (realistically, how big is this audience in relation to the Lakers fanbase) being discontented based on the guys calling it a "saga"? And be willing to let go of a good employee because of it? Sounds like a great environment they got going in there.
